csfong007 Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 So, what if my boyfriend of almost a year gets me nothing for Valentine's Day? I'll probably be a little hurt and disappointed. Do I say something or keep my mouth shut and just be grateful for all of the things he does for me during the year?

Tangerina Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I had this same fear... my boy isn't great with holidays... except that he is great in general but sometimes has a hard time figuring out to be a little bit extra great for a holiday (except for the Rickenbacker cake on my B-day, nicest thing anyone has ever done for me, but he was still trying to win me then, haha)... so anyways, I was like oh no, he will forget... but he didn't... got me a fuzzy bear this weekend and called today to say Happy V-Day... not the most creative but its the thought that counts.... the point is I thought I guy had forgotten or didn't care, but he just wasn't making a big deal of it... could be the same in your case.... in my situation I did make it clear at some point that I wanted us to do something, have you told him you expect to aknowledge the day? Maybe he doesn't know that you care... have you done anything for him for V-Day?

I think it's a little different when you're 50, been married twice, had many boyfriends, and so forth. I wasn't going to even get him anything for Valentine's Day except the other day we were at Sear's and he kept eyeing this ergonomic hammer but didn't buy it. I went back and got it. Today, after work, I will go over and leave it on his counter with a card and chocolate kiss.
