Well I remember exactly what I was doing this day in 2002. My soon to be bride and I were off to get our marriage license. Today my soon to be Ex-Wife and I are politely ignoring each other. Mental note to self don't do things like that on your birthday, holidays, or Valentines Day. Oh well day as usual go visit my dad in the hospital, go workout, and do my best to enjoy the day.

meh i'm not impressed lol :) How about having your husband come home and tell you he wants a divorce out of the blue ON valentines day and leaves the next day? :) Talk about remembering the event!

You just have to put things into perspective.

Yeah that is definetly a kick in the ass, that is truly cold. At least I had a choice in mine. Of course if it happened on any other day it would just make that day suck too. At least we can get that over with in one day! At least I can smile about it now. Someday I will probably even laugh out loud about it.

I've been dumped on Valentine's day as well. I think significant "romantic" days, like V-Day, Anniversaries, etc. exhibit more break-ups because they represent milestones when people ask themselves "should I really be with this person on a romantic day when I know it won't work out?". Sometimes the answer is "no" and those people choose that day to call it quits.

It totally sucks though. Its bad enough being single on V-Day, but to be single as a result of being dumped on that day is much, much worse.

Valentine's day last year for me was spent with the woman I hoped to spend the rest of my life with.. we didn't do anything special, just us together.

Fast Forward...

Valentine's day this year for me was spent on the edge of Sydney harbour, finding strength and courage to throw the commitment ring she gave me into the water and move on with my life.

I did it!!!!! Hurt like hell..but I DID IT!

Feels wierd today though. Oh well, the only way is up! .. Hopefully!

If equal affection can not be, let the more loving one be me.
