Mz. Pixie Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 There's alot of anti Valentines sentiment on this board today so I wanted to offer up a solution for those of you struggling and coping with a breakup, divorce or whatever this Vday. Pick someone who has no one- someone who has had a really hard time lately and do something nice for them. For instance, go to the cancer ward of the children's hospital and take balloons or gifts- go to a nursing home and take some things there. Send a basket of goodies to your neighbor who has had sick kids for the last three weeks and not a minute to herself- sign it from your secret admirer. Valentines Day doesn't have to be about love with your significant other but more like love for your fellow man. Nothing will make you feel better than seeing that there are many many people out there who are way worse off than you are- because they don't have their health or no one visits them anymore! You will see how actually truly blessed that you are!
dgiirl Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Mz Pixie, I agree with you. I think we need to redefine what the holiday means. And if you dont want to go the selfless route, then go the selfish route and LOVE YOURSELF. Go pamper yourself. Buy yourself some flowers or a cake and pig out. Spoil your kids or family. When we were kids, we use to send little valentine cards to ALL our friends, not just the ones we were in "love" with. We need to keep doing that.
