cal gal Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 My kids just left to be with their dad for the weekend. It still seems so weird when they are gone. I can stay busy, if I want to, but it's just not the same as when they are around. Makes me feel sad to not have the commotion and their friends around. Has anyone else felt this way, and if so, how long does it take to adjust? What makes it better?
clandestinidad Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Oooh, good thread CalGal! This last weekend was the first time my ExH was allowed to take my daughter overnight. She did alright I guess....which I am soooo relieved about! I kept myself busy by cleaning the carpets, which took up a good amount of time. I cleaned other things too I think. And did some other things too, so I handled it pretty well. I missed her, though, and was concerned about her anxiety level with the whole thing. What are you going to do to keep busy??
maggiemay Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 It's been a year for me and it still feels weird when they aren't here. The don't go for overnights but the hours that they are gone feel odd. It has gotten better, I do things for me, catch up with friends, see a non-kid movie, get a pedicure. I'm getting nervous he is taking them to visit his mom in 2 weeks and they will be gone for 8 days. I'm thinking the major cleaning should happen then.
Lishy Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 When they first start going it is awful! Then after a while you get used to it and can enjoy some free time! The jey is to keep busy and try to do things that you would not have been able to do if you had the kids! Enjoy some ME time guys!!!!!!!!!!!
