violet_21 Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I want to learn to run, I am in bad shape and I am thinking about following a program that trains you to learn to run. I am wondeting if anyone else has done this and how it went for you. I have some anxiety, which is the reason i want to excersize partly, to see if it helps it. I am worried about being out of breath, but want to take it slow. My program is called, from couch potatoe to 5 k and it shows you how to work up to running for 20 minutes over 10 weeks. The first week you walk for 2 minutes, jog for 30 seconds-1 minute etc, and do it three times that week for half an hour. then you build it up over the 10 weeks so you are running. I am kinda scared, anyone done this?
hotgurl Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I wan tto do that program too. But I am starting out even slower because I have been sick and relativly inactive so I want to walk 3 miles for a month and then run.
MattB Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 i did one of those programs when I first started out. They work GREAT! Which one are you doing? I used the Hal Higdon couch to 5k last year. Now I'm doing 30 miles a week. Don't worry about the program being too hard either. The first few weeks are specificly designed with that in mind.
