For some it's power. For some it's wealth. For others it's fame. That's the way the survivial instinct is programmed. Some women will look past many more negative qualities than postive ones simply because the man has one or all of the above.

She has the resources, emotional stability, and everything. Granted most "flashers" are well to do; ever seen the movie "Boiler Room" flashing money but still live in their mother's basements.

cygny Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I'm going to go out on a limb here and just say that i think the reason that some nice/good guys have problems keeping women is just a lack of a sense of humour. they can sometimes be a little too earnest and serious, which is not terribly engaging. and so they need to develop some verbal 'play'--flirtatiousness if you like. oh. did someone already say that? oops.

I was the good/nice shy/ quiet guy in the corner. Granted I never took an interest in girls (not women) till 2nd year college. Yes, I did have a lack of humor. More like dry British humor, bad sarcasm, or sci-fi humor. After that hurdle, make them laugh, make them smile, and show interests. Fumble a few times, drink and be merry but not drunk; to lower your inhibitions. Stopped acting so serious. After 2nd year college, women are fun to talk to and approach. Most of the time nice/good guys just have to get up, smile, and say hi.

I was just corresponding to one guy over the internet who introduced himself by telling me he's a comedian and a financial broker, tells me all the places he's travelled too, tells me how good looking he is and how he could bring me to the most fanciest resturants in the city. I declined his offer and he was shocked. Apparently that was the first time anyone rejected him. Some how i have a hard time believing that, but anyways. NOT ALL women are drawn to arrogant men. Sure, if you have money, that's great! But bragging about it is a HUGE turn off. No, I want someone who's a little more down to earth than that.

I've said it a few times to an ex of mine, power/fame/money/success can be countered by one failure which would PO that person. She didn't know I've meeting future interesting people. today's peon's maybe tomorrow's leaders. She wondered why I would want to work for 3 letter agencies... Sometimes the tables can be turned quickly. Power/fame/money/success can corrupt and that can bring the house down. Some of the best power/fame/money/success are hidden. Those that flaunt it sometimes are posers. Many of better well to do are actually opposite of flaunting it but are frugal and humble. There is always someone bigger and more power/famous/money/successful, etc...

There is a very fine line between confidence and arrogance. I am very confident. I am healthy and goal oriented. I don't take anything for granted. I am thankful for the blessings that I receive everyday, but I don't go around and pretend that I am better then others just because I have certain blessings. Good job on rejecting him. Maybe he will realize that he is not God's gift to women. Any girl that falls for that crap that he told you is not a woman in my eyes.
