luckygirl Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 My boyfriend an I are eighteen years apart. This big of an age difference is not very common. Can anyone give advice about how to deal with age difference in a relationship?
Woggle Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 My fiance is 15 years older than me and after a while we don't even notice it anymore. Make sure that the other things in the relationship are strong so that they overrule the age difference.
lilmoma1973 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I think age is a number as long as you aren't dating a teeny booper !!
Author luckygirl Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 I am twenty-three and he is forty-two. Of course, we have both been married and divorced. I have two children and he has one child. I think I am very mature for my age.
cal gal Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I recently had a chance to see someone that might have been fun to get to know. I think the fact that he was younger than me (and looked younger than his age) frieked me out a bit so I found a few ways to piss him off. He was probably quite nice, and I probably should not have been so shallow minded. By the time I realized that was how I felt about it - I had already sent him over the edge.... Silly me, life goes on.

I think I am very mature for my age. Go for it. My fiance and I are well matched as well. I don't relate to people my age. I am 27 and she is 41. I am divorced and she has never been married before It works well.
blind_otter Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 My parents are 22 years apart. My last BF was almost 10 years older than me. It's no big deal, and it's actually pretty common, moreso in Europe and Asia.
clandestinidad Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 The guy I like is 11 years older than me. It doesnt even enter our minds when we're talking (unless we're joking about his vision, lol). Like woggle, I dont have much in common with people my age, and dont relate very well w/ them. Apparently you are the same way!!! 18 years is quite a difference, but the commonalities, values, connections, etc matter soo much more. Its my view that people who judge others' relationships without knowing anything about it are not people I want in my life. Maybe if you developed a similar view it would ease your mind.
hotgurl Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 my boyfriend and I are 19 years apart we have been dating for almost 4.5 years. As long as you two get along and the relationship is strong it doesn't matter. I don't even think about it now at all. Just don't let you family give you crap mine did I told them I was happy adn it's none of thier business.
blind_otter Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I like older men. I refuse to date any man under the age of 30. Men are like good cheese. They get stinkier but taste better as they age.
slubberdegullion Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 They get stinkier but taste better as they age. Geez... I would have preferred the wine or scotch analogy instead... *sniffs armpits*... yea, seems ok
