, he said "I didnt realize it was vday, it was just another day to me"

how could one "not know" it was v-day??? unless maybe they were living under a rock since the end of January. the damn ads, billboards, TV spots, catalogues, people talking about it, etc....

V-day is my mom's birthday, so I usually focus only on her. But V-day also makes me miss my ex BF (I ended it). He treated me like his queen everyday of the year, but on V-day he would just make my heart melt, he'd make things, buy things, and spend most of the day with me. He would always make me feel so loved. Unfortunately, I grew older and needed a more mature relationship. After that guy, my other SO's all completely IGNORED the holiday all together, I mean they didn't mention it or anything:(

I get my hubby a box of turtles (Chocolates, not the real moving ones) and he gets me scented Lillies. That is all. Either we'll order in dinner or I'll cook something nice.

Wow - Turtles Chocolates! I forgot all about those (they don't have them here). I'm going to have to get someone to send me some.

My ego couldn't take it. :(

Besides, we'd end up with that irritating "you must spread your valentines love muffins around before giving them to blue again" message....

You are right. My crystal ball predicts another rep point total type thread if the above were to happen.

back on topic.

yeah, i hate the day.

when i was about 17 and boyfriendless i had really cute, anonymous card which i was thrilled about until my mum admitted it was from her. i was so disappointed i cried, if i remember. of course, i'd shown everyone by this time and had to keep lying about it... until now actually.

now mozart's 250th birthday on friday. THAT'S a day to get excited about. i've booked the day off work so i can bum about in my pyjamas listening to the last five symphonies and watching the director's cut of amadeus. i've even got asda to make me a special cake with his picture on.

yup.

I don't mind the day at all. The GF and i just exchange a card and then get a bite to eat at a restaurant. Afterwards, we are going to a basketball game. Nothing wrong with Valentines Day, at least IMHO.:)

Valentine's Day is a way for companies to make big bucks on romance. Couples should buy each other candies and teddy bears or whatever and perform nice gestures on a regular basis not just on holidays.

I never liked Valentine's Day b/c it reminded me of just how lonely I was. I've never had a Valentine, but in high school i always had to see nice couples exchanging gifts. How come no boy wanted to give me a gift? What the *&%$ was I, chopped liver? The only cards I ever got were the ones you gave out in 1st grade that you had to give to everyone...

My mom and I used to give each other chocolate and my friends and I gave each other chocolate. And fellows and I gave each other chocolate. I can't figure out why anybody could hate a holiday that's about giving chocolate! I say bring it on!! :bunny:

I agree that Valentine's Day is best enjoyed playing it by ear. I absolutely refuse to make dinner plans at a nice restaurant on that day, however. Too many evenings of hour long waits made the dinner a complete drag. Birthdays are a lot nicer to celebrate.
