If you and this person are a good fit, then you'll enjoy her company and understand that she has a first obligation to her kids. But ... kids and all ... your goal is to see if the situation works for you and she for her. 

There are a million micro-steps involved in dating someone with children. I assume you mean young children she is still raising--not adult children. Your job is just to focus on the next micro step. Does she seem like someone who can make room for a romantic partner? Is she interested in you?
