First of all I am a 27 year old male and I am extremely perceptive of people and really analyzing things and really trying to figure out how things work and why people REALLY do certain things. Sometimes I really wish that I never was that way. For example, when we all were younger we all had the perception that all of our aunts and uncles were the coolest people in the world, only to find out, year after year more stuff about them that makes them seem less and less cool and it really diminishes your opinion about them. Like how you find out that your uncle use to beat your aunt when you were younger or how one of them cheated constantly on the other or even how they may have been into drugs really heavy. Now I understand that everyone has there problems but, how do you really look beyond peoples flaws like such and really tell yourself that really are a good person and your image of them should not change?

My main delema is my view on women. Now let me also state that I live in the NYC metro area so maybe what I see around here is unique to my area, I don't know.

I see a lot of women who only care about themselves. They are out for themselves and they will do what ever it takes to get what they want no matter who they hurt getting there or what self respect they must sacrifice to get there.

A few examples:

#1 That TV show by Aston Kutcher, Beauty and the Geek, now we all now that no beautiful girl like those women would ever marry or much less even date any of those guys on the show unless it had an alternative motive that fullfills their ultimate goal. If one of them were fillthy rich, the would suck it up so they could divorce them and get half of what they got (aka Anna Nicole Smith) TRUTH: I can not think of one guy who would marry some old 80 year old rich women just to get her money.

#2 Why are so many beautiful women in porn right now as if it were the coolest new fad out there. There is no way in hell that you can still have any self respect for yourself anymore after you really analyze what you are doing. Impossible. Look at Jerry Springer, why are these women showing their breasts to the world just for a damn set of Jerry beads. Would you want your wife or girlfriend or daughter to do this? I don't think so

#3 Why is it SO MANY women walk down the street with tunnel vision as if they were a runway model at DKNY fashion show? This is not a natural walk and is almost always associated with someone who is a stuck up b _ _ _ _. who thinks her S _ _ T doesn't stink.

#4 Why are so many women getting plastic surgery at the highest rate ever?

These are just a few of the things that I see on a daily basis and as we all now, there is a reason for everything. Everything that humans do can be explained one way or the other. The only problem is when you do finally realize why someone is doing the things they do, how do you look beyond it?

Women do porn because it makes them a lot of money.

Women get plastic surgery because men drool over women who look a certain way. What woman doesn't want to feel desirable? Some women do it for themselves, not necessarily to please men. A lot of men t drool over Pam Anderson's silicone rack. I think the media has a lot to do with this. I can't think of too many small breasted sex symbols in America. Maybe women want to feel and look sexier.

Oh I apologize for not saying that I understand why those things happen. My point I am trying to make is if you interact with someone who takes part in these such things, how can you really convince yourself that they are still a good person, even though for their job they give lap dances to old men and go to private rooms with total strangers who throw money at them. Or how do you say to yourself that I know this girl is good even though she will go drop ecstacy with her girlfriends on a weeknight? (I had this happen, trust me)

For every action there is a reaction.

For women to make money in the porn business men have to be watching them.

For every gold digging women there is a man trying to get rich to get the women they want.

Women are living in a man's world and have adapted themselves to our enviroment.

If you want to blame women then you must blame the men as well.

And blame Hollywood, TV etc., for unrealistic expectations that are put out there. Some women may fall into that "I have to have a facelift, boobjob, be thin" to make it in this world. Others don't. It's sad ... Look at models. Holy cow, I can't stand that they all have to be so skinny. Isn't it about time normal sized, everyday women do modelling and shun the 'typical' looking fashion shows? It's everywhere! Media, magazines, TV, movies, you name it, it's in your face.

Porn has been significantly mainstreamed over the past 10 years or so. Certainly in the UK, young actresses will now pose for soft porn shots in magazines like FHM and Loaded. Nowadays it's a credible career move and can help her gain credibility with a male audience. Getting your tits out for the lads is a sign that you're a "good sport".

I'm not sure what I think of it. Plastic surgery is so widely available now, and can make such a difference to people's appearance, that the surge in its use is inevitable. I think we're probably heading towards a stage where there will be an expectation that women make use of it, and failure to do so will be frowned upon in many quarters. You either go with it, or you lose interest in social expectations and just focus on doing your own thing. Personally I favour the latter, but I wouldn't judge any woman for getting plastic surgery these days.

I am not looking to blame anyone, I am looking for a way to really believe that a girl who involes her self in such actions can still be someone good and someone who could possibly have a realtionship with. I am not just talking about the porn, I used it as an example. Another example, a girl who has a boyfriend and will be openly flirty with all of his friends. My best friends gf does this all the time and it is rude and disrespectful. She needs to stroke that ego, that is why

I guess you have to consider that many people want to prolong their adolescence for as long as possible. Inevitably that results in a general tendency towards fairly immature actions (eg drug abuse and attention seeking behaviour). It doesn't necessarily make people impossible to have relationships with, but it does add in certain complications....and probably significantly reduces the possibility of the relationships working out on a long term basis.

The real problem is the media, I agree 100% but the individual is the one who makes the choice on believeing it. So many women buy into the hype and they do these enhancements or flirt excessivly, or enter porn because it makes them feel good and they are not happy with themselves, it reduces their insecurities when they actually do them. NOW, how the hell can you have a relationship with someone if they are first not OK with themselves? You can not love someone elkse if you do not love yourself first

Originally there was a reason for that... models model sample garments that haven't been mass-produced in a range of sizes yet. These sample garments are invariably made by manufacturers to fit a 5'8"-6' size 2 body. That is why models cannot come in a range of sizes. The reason the designers selected this body type for their samples is that elongated bodies "move" better on the runway and show off the clothes better. The focus becomes on the lines of the clothes. It's an "artsy" move that was not supposed to have anything to do with the models themselves. The models are not supposed to be sex symbols, they are walking clotheshangers. The designers are not trying to show off the models, they are trying to sell articles of clothing.

The problem started when life decided to imitate art, and women somehow got the notion that they were supposed to look like the walking clotheshangers. With the media omnipresent, everyone got so overexposed to the industry so quickly that they soon came to view these women as the "norm" or "ideal". Again, I must stress that the size and shape of models is purely for artistic reasons; it's not supposed to denote sexual attractiveness. Think of the Picasso painting of the woman in the bathtub. It doesn't turn you on, does it? But it sure is pretty to look at...

I have a great respect for the modeling and clothing design industry and think it gets way more flack than it deserves. It's possibly the most misunderstood artform on Earth right now.

No one is just talking about runway models, we are talking about all models. The ones who model bathing suits, the ones who are in cover girl commercials, the ones who you see forming a sexual interest for the guy who squirts on the axe body spray. This is not an exclusive problem just for runway models. The media use this image of women to sell every god damn thing that you see on television. I could be watching an infomercial on dentyne gum and they have a women, with what the media prtrays as a beautiful women, trying to make gum out to be more than it really is.

I think you're tapping into some of the reasons for Western values being opposed - and in some cases reviled - by the other cultures we keep imposing them on.

Many women these days have the Paris Hilton syndrome so find one that doesn't. It's one of the reasons why I left NYC. I used to love NY and living in the east village but than the yuppie crowd came and ruined the city. NYC is becoming like LA with subways.

And like I said, the problem started in magazines. When women decided that they needed to look like these clothing models. Now that it's the accepted "ideal", you can't sell a thing if the ad doesn't include a 5' 10" size 2. Sadly, every era has its ideal. Body-shape trends come and go. In the 40's, Marilyn Monroe was the ideal. In the 60's, Twiggy was in. In the 80's, it was Cindy Crawford. Now it's the Victoria's Secret models. Hell, what about the Renaissance era when Botticelli bodies were the rage? It's way too much to ask of human nature to be universally accepting of all shapes and sizes. There will always be a standard to live up to, and that standard will keep changing because people are fickle like that, and are influenced by the most asinine stuff. The only thing that endures is that men like an hourglass figure. The reason being that it biologically indicates reproductive health. No getting around that one, regardless of trends.
