kellyhky Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Hi everyone, I’d like some advice on a new dating situation that’s left me a bit confused. I met a guy about two weeks ago, and things started off really strong — fun dates, lots of chemistry, and thoughtful little gestures. He even told me he liked me, asked what I was looking for, and said he deleted Tinder. We were seeing each other every couple of days and everything felt really promising. This past weekend we went to a rave together. Beforehand, I was upfront with him that I sometimes use substances and asked if he was okay with that — he said yes, and that he’d let me know if he ever felt uncomfortable. At the rave, I did a little, but everything between us still felt good — we danced, kissed, and had a great time. But right after, I got shocking news that my dad had a heart attack. He was incredibly supportive in the moment — he even came with me to the hospital and sent me a sweet message afterward. The next day, we met briefly, but I noticed he seemed more distant — not initiating affection like before and more vague about making future plans. Since then (4 days), I haven’t heard from him. To add to my confusion, a friend saw him walking with another girl later that night, though she said it looked friendly, not romantic. One factor is that he’s a primary school teacher, and the new school year just started this week — so part of me wonders if he’s just stressed and busy. Now I’m overthinking — is he pulling back because he’s not interested anymore, or because he saw me use substances, or does he just need space to adjust to his new routine? My question is: should I reach out to him first, and if so, how do I do it in a way that shows interest but doesn’t come off as needy? Or should I wait to see if he contacts me? Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Quote
ShyViolet Posted September 6 Posted September 6 You met this guy TWO weeks ago.... he is still a virtual stranger to you. That is not enough time to even call it a relationship. He might have lost interest for whatever reason. Don't make more of this than what it was. Since he knows you just had the difficult situation with your Dad, if he cared about you he would text you to ask you how you are doing. The fact that you stopped hearing from him really says it all. He's no longer interested. You could try one last time to text him, but I wouldn't expect much from it. Quote
