ShySoul Posted September 1 Posted September 1 What country? Anything specific bothering you that we can help you with? Do you have any hobbies that could cheer you up? Take care of yourself. Quote
Alpacalia Posted Tuesday at 11:56 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:56 PM Hey @RandallHare. Sorry to hear you're not enjoying your living environment. Any way you can relocate? Aren't you an attorney? Maybe you can find a position abroad where your legal expertise is in demand? Quote

Bad geopolitics I have plenty of hobbies and activities, I rarely get bored nowadays... but I'm just inconvenienced by corrupt politicians. It's crazy how they get in the way with real progress! But that would mean starting from 1st year in law school... Plus I don't like the weather down there. Christmas in Summer? I would love to relocate to Provence. I just have to work hard and make some investments. I'm waiting till I'm around 60 I guess... Quote

Christmas in Summer is great, Christmas dinner is lobster, prawns, Moreton Bay bugs, mud crab, etc, and fresh salads, yum yum! You can have cold turkey or chicken for people with seafood allergies, but in general people who don't like a seafood feast are viewed with disapproval and suspicion. We do have weirdos who do this thing called 'Christmas in July' where they all get together and sit around a log fire wearing paper crowns and eating roast turkey in the middle of Winter. We also have people who will sweat their way resentfully through roasting a turkey and/or BBQing pork on Christmas Day, they're usually women who, by lunch-time, are in a bad mood and act all put upon like it's a form of annual Yuletide abuse heaped upon them by their families. They have to be jollied along with alcohol so they don't spoil the day for everyone by going on about their turkey and whether or not the roast potatoes are cooked properly. Quote

I getcha, I live in a State that I don't really want to but circumstances make it difficult to move to where I want to live. I'm still hoping eventually I will move back to the State I want to live in but some things need to happen first. Quote

Nothing wrong with Aussie weather. I'm pretty sure it's nice over there... It's just that, out of all the places in the entire world, it's Provence that has captured my heart. I want to live there some day. That's my idea of heaven/paradise/nirvana. Quote

S2B Posted Saturday at 05:04 PM Posted Saturday at 05:04 PM What is it about Provence that entices you? Do you prefer the beach areas or the mountain areas best? Quote

Els Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Engineering and architecture aren't generally in most developed countries' skills shortage lists in this day and age, because those jobs tend to be cushy ones that locals are willing to work. Unless you're in a specific engineering niche that your target country is unable to find workers for, you're unlikely to be able to emigrate as an engineer in 2025. Healthcare is usually the most common pathway into immigration, because it's always in demand, and the nature of the work (long hours, rotating shifts, no guaranteed holidays) means that locals aren't always eager to take it up. There are lots of Pinoy nurses here for that reason. Quote Thinking of Australia? But that would mean starting from 1st year in law school... Lawyers aren't on the skills shortage list either for Australia. Getting enough points for permanent residency with a law degree would be very tricky. Best of luck! Edited 12 hours ago by Els Quote
