lilmoma1973 Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 H is going to buy us one of the eyeless stoves and been having doubts about gettting this type of stove .. We have been wanting one for a while but have put it off because have been hearing alot of things about it!! Now we have to bite the bullet and get a new stove, I am not so sure about this type because of all the things i hear about cleaning it.. I hear they are really hard to clean and you have to buy special cleaning stuff for it.. My ss will cook on the stove and spill things and never clean it up .. I am terrified that it will be ruined by his carelessness !! I hear that you have to clean it as soon as you driop something otherwise it will be too late..Just not having good thoughts about getting this type of stove .. Does anyone have this type of stove ? What was the expeirence of it and would you do it again?
Mz. Pixie Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 I have one Lilmoma. I like it. My husband had it in the house previously but my stepmother also had one for years as well and liked it. You do have to buy special cleaner for a ceramic cook stove, but that is not the only thing you can clean it with. I spray mine with Windex alot to clean it and it's never hurt it. I only use the ceramic cleaner when there is a burnt on stain or something on it. A bottle should last a long time. You can also scrape it with a razor blade before you use the cleaner. To me, it's easier to clean because there are no cracks and such like on a regular stove. I used to always use a toothpick on my old stove to get things out of the cracks! I recommend that you get a stove that's a self cleaning one that you can run a cleaning cycle on as well rather than having to spray it etc inside. All three of my last stoves have had this and it's a great function.
Outcast Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 'Eyeless stove'? Do you mean a cooktop? Or do you mean the new magnetic ones? I had a cooktop and HATED it. Stupid thing was made with halogen lamps and it cooked too hot or too low. Cleaning it wasn't that big a deal if you got to spills right away but it was horrible horrible to cook on so if you must get one, for sure check every sort of consumer review you can find to see if it's a recommended one.
Author lilmoma1973 Posted January 14, 2006 Author Posted January 14, 2006 Thanks Mz Pixie and Outcast not sure what kind .. Yeah i called my h and told him i wasn't so sure and he said we will go look at them again to make sure that is what we want.. Mz.Pizie glad to see that they aren't that bad and easy to clean never heard about the windex thing interesting .. Making mental note so the razor blades don't scratch it ,i would think it would but oh well .. Yeah Out was going to check out the consumer reports and h suggested this also Thanks again not so leary now !!
