Yesterday I got a hit from this extremely handsome guy who said he wanted to say hi and tell me I'm HOTTTTT! I was shocked (and flattered). I think he meant to write this to another profile. I am not hot, I'm barely attractive. I feel like I'm Gwyneth Paltrow's character in Shallow Hal. I don't really know if I have a question to ask, I guess maybe I'm just really caught off guard. Anyone else have this happen, on a site or otherwise?
slubberdegullion Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Two possibilities:He's a good dude, and truly thinks you're really something; or,He sends out the same email to lots of women, in hopes of getting one or more to take the bait. If he's local to you, by all means, take a chance and meet him in a public place, like a coffee shop or something. Just be warned, that online dating, while now mainstream, still poses some hazards. I'm not new to online dating so I am always cautious of a meeting, whether it be because he's a possible rapist or a@#hole!

I've got some limited experience with online dating, and while I've never met "the one" (whatever that means) I've certainly made some very good friends that I wouldn't otherwise have met. (Even got a wee bit'o nookie occasionally, too! )

You can usually tell b/c they are sooo general such as, youre hot (but dont describe anything in particular), we share a lot of interests (but dont list any of them), etc etc..... Be very careful. Many many people know how to make someone feel good to sucker them in. On the other hand....he might actually think you really ARE hot!! Everyone has different tastes!!!
