Woggle Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 To me it is very important. How can you have s uccessful relationship or marriage without actually enjoying spending time with your partner. To me if you can actually enjoy just hanging out with your mate, confiding in them and having a deep conversation with them beyind just the physical it makes all the difference in the world. In every successful and happy marriage I have known they also had a deep friendship. I know one of the reasons why I feel the way I do about my gf is that her and I enjoy just hanging out together and talking. We can talk for hours about anything and that to me is a sign of a good relationship.

Mz. Pixie Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Alpha is right! Friendship is one of the most important things in a relationship/marriage. My husband tells everyone I'm his best friend. He told a co worker recently going through marital problems, not to ever remarry after this if it couldn't be to his best friend. He told him that is what he has now that he'd never had before and it makes things completely different. I'd rather hang with him than anyone else and he feels the same way.

That's how things were done back in the day when people weren't yet bitten by the *me me me* bug. Now it's all about instant gratification... as long as people *get off* it's okay... the hell with actually getting to know a person and forging a *real* relationship with him/her.

I just think if you have a friendship with your spouse it makes a huge difference in the quality of the marriage.

Nothing surprises me any more... If I couldn't stand my GF/wife there definitely wouldn't be any sex going on between us. No way. Gotta have a good solid relationship before any sex happens. I don't give it away for free... it definitely comes at a price.
