In Sync Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 The sooner that NC is accepted by you as your friend and not the enemy, the sooner one can face the long journey of heartbreak to a new found you. Here it is 2006 and when I recall how devastated I felt when I was in contact with the one who was at the core of my pain, I look back and say "WoW!...I actually walked through that fire. I cannot believe it!! A little burned yes..but not charred and broken...Maintaining NC enabled me to look back at my relationship with the "X" with an assortment of emotions ranginging from longing, jealousy, crying bouts, sadness, anger and now I'm at a place of detachment...it that allows me to see what happened. Who was I in the relationship, who he was and how it went from fantasy to a constant string of allowances to desparate clinging. Before fully committing I too received e-mails (even though I claimed to be doing NC..and sure enough it lead to more pain...make no mistakes in deluding yourself on this one.) In order to feel your strength and reclaim your dignity and in that dignity grows a sense of empowerment, it feels like you can conquer the world. In essence, I think, breaking NC is admitting to your subconscious that your strength and power are at the mercy of your ex's. Is that what you truly want, for your emotional well being to be pulled like a puppet on a puppeteer's strings? HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!
whattofeel Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 i do agree that NC is most definitely the way for you to move on with your life and helps you refocus in your own interests and goals. though i believe when all things do go well and you and your ex didn't break up on bad terms and were very close friends to begin with, you can possibly become friends with your ex again if you choose to and if you know that by talking and seeing him won't ignite those types of feelings within yourself again. happy new year and best of luck in finding happiness to everyone out there in LS!
