after an enjoyable new year's eve, my boyfriend of six years suddenly suggest we break up. the reasons he brought up have been on his mind for awhile now (which i am also aware of, but didnt see them as THAT bad). needless to say, i dont want to end it. so yes, i should just let him go.

however, he recently lost his job and has been feeling depressed. which makes me wonder if that played a role in his decision to break up with me. personally, i think when you are depressed, you are not exactly in the best state of mind to make such decisions. i dont even know if i should accept the breakup, or try to hang on and be there for him. but he doesnt even want me to be there!

i guess the best person to ask/talk about this with is him, but right now, he just wants to be left alone. a 3rd person point of view would be much appreciated!

My bf had depression and his reaction is 'its none of my business'... 3 years with him and its not my business? right. ok.

Perhaps just say something along the lines of 'i care about you and really want to be here for you, especially as its a bad time, but if i'm wasting my time, say so'???

Maybe. i dunno. goodluck whatever you do,
