Outcast Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 ... and you're taking stock of your life, remember to devote some time to going over your business and financial information and making sure your affairs are in order. In particular, make sure you have a complete list of all your assets and their locations should, God forbid, something untoward happen to you. Your list should include things people forget about like safety deposit boxes, old insurance policies from former jobs, locations of any property kept elsewhere (storage lockers, for instance), loans to museums, etc. Be sure that your wills are explicit and well-written. Get your organ donation and living will documents organized. Know where all your important documents are; maybe even scan them to a CD and stash it in your safety deposit box so should weather or something damage your home you'll have copies. If you live in an area prone to disasters, make sure to restock your disaster kits and that includes carrying emergency supplies in your car. Take care of you and yours.

Art_Critic Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Why would I want to make it easy for my family ? I want them to have to dig up the backyard looking for coffee cans and fight over my assets My family has never even been to my cabin property in the mountains. If I died they wouldn't even know where it is
Gold Pile Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Happy New Year! Prudent advice, Thank You

Author Outcast Posted December 31, 2005 Author Posted December 31, 2005 Oh, goodness, no, folks! Between talking to some friends who have lost relatives lately plus Bluechocolate's post, plus some tales I've heard lately about family hassles, I just figured this was as good a time as any to interject this little bit of info. But thanks for your concern
