Hey there,

I am looking for a little advice or an opinion....My other half plays a lot of computer games and was playing every night till wee hours of the morning....We both have computers in the same room (small type office) in a small apt......I have had a problem sharing the computer space with him because his games are loud or the excess tpying is annoying.....I have asked him if we could do an ever other night space time..Actually, I even said to him he can have 4 nights and me 3.......We have been trying this, and it is working out "OK".....Now...He is says I need to compromise something also because he isn't getting anything out of it....Meaning, I have to give him something in return....I see it as he is getting 4 nights a week on his computer (he plays till 2:00 AM and later) and I an getting 3 to myself..I say it is "working out OK" because he isn't playing on those 3 nights but still on the computer so there is no space.....Does this sound fair?? Do I need to give him something in return for some space from the online games he plays?

He seems a little too into the games. That's just my opinion.

My other opinion: "you owe me" is not healthy language for a relationship.

Without sounding like a smartypants- have you guys even thought to try headphones? He could listen to his games through his headphones and if his typing still annoys you, maybe you could listen to something through yours- music, relaxation sounds etc. Then you could still be "together" and not feel like you're trading favors and won't feel slighted that he gets 4 and you get 3.

Each of you gets 3 nights and that other night NOONE gets to use the computer. Don't even turn it on.

Or even better yet, maybe have a cut off time. Staying up late night after night isn't good for the relationship. Unless you're having sex together, then that's good.
