melgirl Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 hey, if anyone can give me some help/advice in this situation...thatd be great! sooo ive been with my boyfriend for about 7 months now and everything seems really good. he's sweet, genuine and we're very much in love. he recently even bought me a diamond necklace for xmas. the only thing is he never calls me, sometimes when i call him he takes a day or so to call me back. we even went an entire week w/ out seeing or talking to each other and when i called him he acts like nothing has happened. am i making a big deal out of nothing? at first i thought maybe he wanted to break up, but when we're together (always arranged by me) he acts infatuated with me. he used to be really obsessive w/ calling/seeing me all the time at the beginning of our relationship..so maybe im just used to that? i havent said anything to him, cause i think if i do he'll brush it off and im not sure exactly what to say. is this just the effects of the thrill of a "new" relationship wearing off or something more?
gfto Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 I don't think it's a big deal at all. In fact, this is a good example of a guy being a challenge, which probably raises your interest in him. It sounds like he respects you and is basically doing everything right. I rarely call my gf, and we have a great relationship. When I do call, I just make the date, then get off the phone. Save the chit-chat for the date. But, it is a little strange that you're the one making all the dates. Do you mean that he NEVER initiates a date?
bluechocolate Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Stop calling him & stop arranging to meet him & see what happens.
travellingman Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 My friend has the same problem. He has great dates with this girl, he said they are some of the best he's ever been on, but they've only gone out 6 times in nearly 3 months, and he initiated all of their meetings. Finally, he decided to step back, and after 2.5 weeks, she called and eagerly asked him out for #7. In his case, she's playing hard to get. Can't really say what's going on you, but if you got a diamond necklace for Christmas, you don't have much to complain about.
jen_jen_heartbroken Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 but if you got a diamond necklace for Christmas, you don't have much to complain about. Oh yeah. No kidding. I got gift cards.
curiousnycgirl Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Sounds like he's gotten comfortable in the relationship and a little lazy. I agree with BlueChocolate stop calling and initiating and get him to make the first move (s). Other option is to discuss it with him - tell him how you feel and THEN stop calling/initiating. I'm willing to bet he begins carrying his end of the bargain.
