Do preach about sexism in science. Science has always been open slather." just wanted to say that these people were geniuses in their fields.. but not in every subject. einstein was not good at everything and was ESPECIALLY not good at maintaining personal relationships.
cygny Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 interesting thread. just wanted to point out a few things. she never told him what to do, so she wasn't trying to control him. she told him HOW SHE FELT and that SHE couldn't deal with it. If she knows herself and states her boundaries, that is not trying to control. She sounded to me like she was willing to discuss it, hence the 'later' comment. AverageJoe then decided that rather than respect her feelings or try to understand why she had them and try to work something out, said, 'my way or the highway.' sounds pretty one-sided to me. would she always have to do things his way, without discussion or compromise? I am not 100% against porn but i would find it hurtful and frankly a huge turnoff if a guy i had just started seeing was looking at sleazy stuff. Really it wouldn't be about whether its normal or healthy or anything just a big 'ugh' that the element is there intruding on my new excitement about a person. It's a normal emotional reaction for a woman to have and guys need to realize this just as much. It is the ultimate turnoff to see that a guy has such a self-centered view of relationships and that important issues will be dictated on his terms. There is also the whole issue about how the porn industry promotes violence against women. No one has really dealt with that here, and maybe this girl has truly thought about this and taken a stand. Finally, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Would you guys feel comfortable with a girl who slathered regularly over other guys huge d*cks if you were just starting to date her? Would that turn you on or off? Most guys I know are turned off by a woman who seems lewd or who gets drunk one night, then she's a lush. Well, i hope you guys are honest with yourselves and not just standing on some principle that because you are men, you are entitled to watch whatever sleazy stuff you want because then you really aren't great people to be in a relationship with anyway. Good relationships require sensitivity to other's feelings.
