newbby Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 if one is suicidal, does the perception change reality, or does the reality create the feeling. are things as bad as they seem to these people? is it real?
Ruff Ryder Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Hi there, I cant answer thoes questions. I think one who contemplates taking their own life has lost toch with reality. Not being able to live with ones emotionall loss or damage is hard but for one to take their life over it would be a complete was of a life. You see that people all all diffrent we may have simalar experinces and we may all have the same emotions but it our free will that differants us. So what you experince and what i experince may be the same thing but how i percive it (handle it) may be diffrent to you. So like i said one cant really answer your question but i can say that no matter how bad it hurts or can get life never will throw you more than you can handle soi to take your own life would be a poor excuse out of a difficulte situwation. Have a good one. Ruff
Outcast Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Suicide is usually about depression. I could go into the whole chemical business about depression but essentially, that which causes depression colours perception. You know how some days you wake up, have a good breakfast, somebody smiles at you and you're happy for the day and some other days you might wake up, stub your toe, burn your tongue on your coffee, and turn into a grump? That's all about mood and perception. Life is never objectively so bleak that it cannot improve, short possibly if one is in the final few days of a terminal illness. However, the mindset engendered by depression makes it seem to the depressed person that the future holds nothing but the same. That's just not possible - nobody can predict the future, however depression casts such a pall on all of life that the sufferer can't see beyond. Think of wearing glasses with dark, dark gray lenses that you can never take off. You can no longer see colour even though it's there. That's what depression does to your mind. There may be an unhappy event to trigger the depression and kick the chemicals out of balance; the healthy body will bring the chemicals back in balance eventually. However not all bodies are healthy so that they may be unable to put the chemistry right. That's when outside intervention is required.
