A Beer Drinker Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 So, me and the wife have been split up since early October, the Divorce paperwork has been signed and we will be filing the first part of the new year. I get a call from my dughter today and she is really emotional. Apperently this past Sunday my soon to be ex brought over the guy she has been seeing (and had an affair with while we were married). My daughter is going on and on about how she does not want a step family and that she wants mom and dad back together. Getting back together is not an option for us. How do I deal with this? I think that it was too early to introduce the kids to someone else as they are still adjusting to life without us together.
Scott S Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Ordinarily, my response would be that each person is different, & that there is no absolute standard for how soon to start dating. It's when the person believes that it's the right thing to do. In this case, however, I must agree with you. You didn't mention how old your daughter is, but that notwithstanding, I would think your erstwhile wife would be more considerate of her, & therefore at least be more discreet about her present relationship. Of course, you cannot stop her from seeing someone, but discussing this with her, with a view towards what is best for your children is in order. Whether it would affect custody, parental fitness, etc. is another issue, of course. ___________________________________________________ What if people stopped throwing rice at weddings, & threw potatoes instead?
