I was thinking today and during my player stage I realized I really treated a few women pretty badly. I never lied to them but it was still wrong. Should I call them and apologize just to get it off my chest. I want to start 2006 with a new lease on life and I feel I owe it to them to say sorry to their face.

no, you'll look like a fool. Just make a donation to the red cross in all of their names (if you can rememer their names)...

They'll think your still hung up on them and things will be awkward. Just mentally apologize to them and wipe the slate clean.

Seriously Woggle, I wouldn't. Though we howl at the moon when the hurt is fresh, by the time a guy feels like apologising to us, we struggle to recall what we were wearing when we first met him....let alone what his name might have been.

I'm not joking....

I would hate that if it happened to me. It would be like a slap in the face again....

Get it off your chest? Think of them not you!!! :o

Geesh. Sad sorta world if apologies are regarded with hostility and suspicion :(

Woggle, I would guess that they have moved on from any hurt experienced and if they haven't it would be a mistake to contact them. I say better to let sleeping dogs lay than re-opening wounds and possibly more drama than you want. :)

I agree.

It really is a shame that we live in a world that frowns upon apologizing and acknowledging wrongdoing. The current belief is that doing those things implies weakness.

I have always believed that a person could have all the degrees in the universe and yet if he/she cannot admit that they are/were wrong then that person is still an uneducated fool in spite of all those degrees.

I think I would find it nice if someone who had treated me badly in the past would find enough understanding now and apologized. I knew a guy who treated me badly and never really gave me a full apology. That was a long time ago and I eventuall just decided to forgive him (more or less, I'm not a saint or martyr... :p ). Recently we met by chance on the messenger and he told me he had found himself in a relationship just a while ago that was a disaster and he realized that he was acting just like me (passive-aggressive and imbalanced) and that obviously made him understand the situation I was in better. I loved being able to say, "Karma's a bitch".

well LOONEY, as much as I agree with your description of yourself you really must stop it with the self-flagellation :lmao:

What you experience is very likely just a mild form; you might therefore want to avoid picking up fights with me. :bunny:

On a second thought I wouldn't say I'm passive-aggressive with you, I usually smack you on the head whenever I feel like. :lmao:

Despite the fact that I'll be swimming against the prevailing tide here, recently I did exactly what Woggle's thinking of doing.

All of them, without exception, offered their forgiveness, and a few gave me big warm bear hugs. I didn't have a sour note in the lot.

That said, I can understand why some may take offence, but in my case personally, that didn't happen at all.

I agree.... when did making amends for hurting someone become the wrong thing to do ?

I've alway's been the type that apologizes for my part in things..

woogle.. I think providing your can apologize in a manner that won't look like you are trying to get back with them then you should..

Nothing wrong with it.. In fact an admirable thing to do

look A_C...these women are long over it. Why would WOGGLE want to open up the wound and bring back negative memories for them?

all is fair in love and war A_C...i'll apologize for other things but not for having a relationship with any woman. It is a two-way street when it comes to this...

woogle.. I think providing your can apologize in a manner that won't look like you are trying to get back with them then you should..

the first thing a women from WOGGLE past will think is:

1) he's trying go hook back up with me

2) he's contact me to tell me to get tested for some disease.

Woogle: Here is a little perspective on my thread. I personally think it would be an excellent idea for you to clear your conscious and also clear up some black spots in the other womens lives.

Some may not give a shyt and others it might help with some bad feelings they may still harbor but I agree (as someone already stated) you need to make sure these women know you have no intentions of making amends to get back together or try again.

unless thats what you want..

When the one guy msg'd me on yahoo and apologized for not being fair to me and for basically disappearing, he confused me and I was shocked but after the initial shock wore off I have much more respect for him and I can honestly say that the man who I thought he was shone through. I can look at him and feel content. I always felt like he was a treasure I lost and I didn't understand why. He explained to me that he wasn't ready for me. He was/is still dealing with his past relationship with the mother of his son which has been over for well over a year, going on 2 years. If he would have been honest with me from the start he would have omitted hurting and confusing me and him carrying his own guilt for leading me on and then just falling off the face of the earth.

GO FOR IT WOOGLE... You will feel much better. They will either not give a damn or they will gain respect for you that was lost by your actions. You never know what and whom can help you in the future, maybe one of them could be a stepping stone to some kind of real happiness in life. (not necessarily referring to getting intimately involved with any of them.) Say for instance a golden job opportunity. You never know when you will need a Alie in your corner.

Real men can face their mistakes and correct them: whimps run and hide their guilt and shame.

I think if an apology is genuine and heartfelt, many people will appreciate it.

So few people really go through with an apology. I think it is a lost art.

I've made apologies for past actions, sometimes waiting years to do it, but not once did someone act miffed or irritated that I'd apologized. Instead, they seemed surprised and pleased.

A guy who once dissed me badly apologized eight years later. His apology was so real and so sweet.....it helped me let go of some old baggage. And I didn't think he wanted to 'get' with me at all.

It's very unusual, to get an apology these days.

I don't think I particularly like this new-and-improved version of WOGGLE....

Wake up man! What is this new woman doing to you? Is she poisoning you slowly (arsenic?)...WTF!

yOU want to apologize for something these women willingly took part in? No, I recommend against it. Had you committed some crime against them and you were going to prison for 25 yrs then i'd say, yes, apologize.

this is ridiculous.

Alpha, only Woogle knows what he has done against these women. If he is feeling his concious bother him then there must be somethings that are worth him apoligizing so he can get rid of some demons he is harboring.. I don't think he intends on apoligizing to every women he's played with..

I see it like this, the one who is less emotionally involved and more in control of his feelings has the greater responsibility for his partner, any kind of partner. Even when you're in a 'friends with benefits' relationship it is you who has the responsibility to break it off when you see that your partner is not handling it well and not able to get out there on his own. Using people to fulfill your needs when they are already dependent on you is despiccable. They may be stupid, in delusion, emotionally imbalanced and too dependent, but that gives you no right to exploit them.

Apologies to all, but I'm something of a pessimist by nature...and I have to say that were I to answer the telephone and hear an old flame uttering a greeting, #2 is the first fearsome thought that would flash through my head.

Well I am about to get married and am very much in love so I have no interest in getting back with any of them but I just feel it would be right. They didn't deserve to pay for what women in my life had done to me.
