While no one would go into a bar and say, "Hey, which of you has a lot of baggage, is the ugliest person in the room with a STD and a bunch of kids," the point is - you try to get to know people - not just disregarding them for mistakes of their past. Let's take STD off the table for just a moment. He dismisses people with children so quickly - as do you - and basically call these women stupid. That term is so misogynistic, I don't even know where to begin. So - a guy can get girls X, Y, and Z pregnant - but don't dare let a girl get pregnant - even through rape, incest, or a broken condom. These women should be put on display and never dated by any rational human being ever again. So, this "terrific" guy should disregard THEM? WTF is up with THAT?!

First off...I don't think ANYONE considers a guy who'll knock up a few women and bail every time to be a shining example of the human race. I think that's a ****ty thing to do. I really wasn't aware that there were guys who were out high-fiving each other based on how many "baby mammas" they have. But of course...as usual...you've taken some strange perception you have of reality and magnified it times 10, and then applied it to all guys worldwide. Woohoo.

Now then...men who don't want to date single moms are not misogynistic (especially since the term gets thrown around as frequently as "totally" in a HS cafe). They're just logical. They just don't want to take care of another guy's kids. Can you really blame a guy for that? If so, please tell me why. I'll be honest, I would never date a single mom. Sorry. I'm pretty ambivalent about ever having any in the first place, so I'm sure as heck not going to start a relationship where I'd have one locked in from the get-go and it's not even my kid. Is it fair that single moms tend to get the shaft from guys? Maybe not. But who says life is fair? Certainly not you, Dragonfly, from what you've posted in lostjeff's thread.

Also...who says the woman has to have the kid anyhow? Abortion is murder-blah-blah-blah. Whatever. Smashing a baby's head open with a sledgehammer is murder. Abortion is a pink school eraser. If abortion is murder, then hey, so is masturbation. I'm killing billions of potential kids. They'll never even have a CHANCE! *sob-sob*

If you have a kid, live with your decision. Why bitch about it? Especially if you love the kid. Buy the ticket, take the ride. Even if you weren't willing to nix the kid in the first place, you certainly didn't have to keep it. Adoption, anyone? There are couples who can't have kids. Give them a shot at parenthood since they're so ready. Hell, at least they have a screening process.

Bottom line, do we REALLY need more kids on this planet? Last time I checked, we weren't having a shortage of babies around here. Is there a baby drought that I'm not aware of? It's a view that only a misanthropist like myself can have, I guess, but don't you think we should be working towards having LESS people on the planet? Not even speaking of the current overpopulation problem we have, We've screwed things up pretty badly with the current size of the hairless monkey population. In case you hadn't noticed, as a species, we suck just a little bit. Here in the good old USA especially. We're generally gluttonous, selfish, violent, apathetic, destructive and wasteful. It's not like that's debatable. If we had FEWER people around, we probably could solve a few of our problems. No one likes to hear that, since we ARE "the master race" after all. We can't even bare to hear that we decend from apes, for god's sake. (no pun intended) But less human beings would be a good thing. So don't act like having kids is some wonderful blessing that we should bow to and embrace. It's just a compulsion, and ultimately another mouth to feed on the global scale. *shrug*

Which thread are you responding to? I couldn't find this particular quote.

While single moms shouldn't be dismissed as 'stupid', if a man does not care to have the responsibility of children in his life I think it's his right to choose not to date parents.

I think it's much more responsible to be upfront about that, rather than hang around getting what he can get, until the woman pushes him to make a choice. Much less pain for all involved.

What does it matter if a kid's not the product of your swimmers? A child is a little person who needs love and care and deserves those things. Its DNA shouldn't disqualify it from receiving same.

But I assume you don't plan to have any children at all because you don't want kids. That's a different issue. However men who do want familiies are foolish, IMHO, to worry about 'whose' kid it is.

but don't you think we should be working towards having LESS people on the planet? Not even speaking of the current overpopulation problem we have,

Well, right now between famines, AIDS, and a shxtload of natural disasters, we're losing humans pretty rapidly. The problem on the planet is not that there are too many people, but that the people who are here have not been good stewards of the planet.

You are probably the perfect person to have kids. You'd have bright kids and you'd teach them your values and maybe they'd grow up to solve some of the world's issues because they cared. And it's possible to teach those same values to kids who aren't even your own if they come into your life young enough.
