mrB2006 Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Hello, This is just a quick note to say thank you to all that replied to my threads. Some of your responses were a bit brutal. But I needed a slap to the face. I will try my best to change my ways. I will do it for myself first and foremost. What I should learn: 1) Stop being a such dickhead: I will definitely work on that aspect of my personality. 2) Be polite to everyone, including jerks in wheelchairs..... 3) Respect myself...don't ever be a pushover. Standup for your beliefs. 4) Get the silly notion of the 'nice guy' out of my head. I am capable of being a good guy, not just a 'nice guy'. 5) Take chances...you never know where you will go. 6) Don't be a chickensh*t around a gal you like. Go for it! 7) From one of my favorite oldies: Ricky Nelson's 'Garden Party': "You can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself." It speaks for itself. 8) Stop being such a wussy. Gawd that can drive others up the wall. 9) Respect others. 10) And finally respect myself....Be more confident. Women don't want a 'nice guy', they want a 'good guy'... I won't change over-night. But I will make a strong effort to change my ways. Thanks MrB You are more than welcome to add on other ideas.
slubberdegullion Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 1) Stop being a such dickhead: I will definitely work on that aspect of my personality. Better define your terms first before you go trying to change something as broad-ranging as "dickhead." Be specific. 2) Be polite to everyone, including jerks in wheelchairs Yes, of course. But also... 3) Respect myself...don't ever be a pushover. Standup for your beliefs. No argument there. Just when you do your stand-up stuff, remember that others have their own views and may not be swayed. 4) Get the silly notion of the 'nice guy' out of my head. I am capable of being a good guy, not just a 'nice guy'. Excellent. 5) Take chances...you never know where you will go. Danger + Survival = Fun 6) Don't be a chickensh*t around a gal you like. Go for it! Absolutely. 7) From one of my favorite oldies: Ricky Nelson's 'Garden Party': "You can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself." It speaks for itself. Yes, to a degree. But remember that we live in community with others, and if pleasing yourself damages another person, group or community, then you might wish to reconsider. 8) Stop being such a wussy. Gawd that can drive others up the wall.100% agreed. 9) Respect others. See 2, 3 & 7. 10) And finally respect myself....Be more confident. Women don't want a 'nice guy', they want a 'good guy'. See 3. I won't change over-night. But I will make a strong effort to change my ways....nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight - Bruce Cockburn, Lovers in a Dangerous Time (no, the Barenaked Ladies didn't write it)
