Tangerina Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 I love it when my sweet BF make little offhand comments that assume I will be with him somewhere in his future... we have only been together for 5 months so it is too soon to tell where we are really going as a couple, but it just makes me feel so good and wanted! Even after 3 years with my EX I would say things like "oh, it will be fun this summer to spend more time with each other... and he would reply with "oh, I don't know if we will be together this summer." Here are a few of my favorites recently: I was talking with my parents about taking a family vaccation to Poland in July and my BF says "Oh, that is right after our 1 year anniversary" (a guy who remembers anniversaries? oh yum!) I was saying that "I think I will get fat like my mom after I have babies"... he says "thats ok, we could put the babies in the stroller and take turns switching off pushing the stroller and riding a bike" (So cute, I didn't say who I was gonna have babies with and he assumed it was him) He asked me if I was still going to be living with my room mate when I finished undergrad, because he wants to transfer to my school and live together and go to graduate school together..... We were out boating and looking at really nice houses and I asked him if he was going to build his own special house some day (he has building skills) and he said "maybe, but it would be even more special if you were there with me."
mini696 Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 This is one of the things that people can do to show they love you. Involve you in their future goals. My ex was doing the same sort of things in the middle of our relationship, when she stopped making comments like that, it was also the time she was unsure about our future. So yeah... these are great things he is saying. But be cautious he isn't getting clingy etc.
Apathygrip Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Hmm kinda funny in my last realtionship everytime marrige came up or "us" together far in the future I would be like" ohh hell no, no way".......Guess I can see why she broke up with me..
lilmoma1973 Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Yep sure do that is why we are married and have a beautiful 6 yrold daughter and been together for 13 yrs !!!
konfuzd Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Sorry to be so cynical, but falling off cloud nine is a far drop, and it hurts like hell! My ex used to call me his Sharon Osbourne (firey redhead groupie 'till we're all old and wrinkly).... I thought it was the sweetest thing anyone could say to me (even though I think Sharon Osbourne is a wack-job)! Don't get too worked up... he may be authentic, but I'd warn strongly against building such a high pedestal for anyone. You will be the one crushed by it when you find out it's made of paper.
Author Tangerina Posted December 6, 2005 Author Posted December 6, 2005 Oh silly head, what an attitude!! In my post I even aknowledged that we have only been together for 5 months and I have no idea where it is going long term, I am just saying that it is so nice to be with someone who at least can see you in their future rather than someone who is going out of their way to make sure you don't get your hopes up that it might go somewhere....
Walk Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 If we live our lives in fear of the fall, then we'll never enjoy the flight.
JoL Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 My ex from a couple of years ago and i used to always talk this. It is great to discuss your future when you have the wobbly feel good tummy aches for eachother Just make sure that you still feel the same way a couple of years down the track if you intend to build a long term future with him. But for now, enjoy the loved-up joy that is the honeymoon stage!
