Question for email/text professions of love...

I have a hypothesis that when people tell the person they like their feelings for them, over an impersonal medium like email or text messaging then the results are always negative. However, it's just a hypothesis, and I was wondering if anyone has had a positive result from this form of professing your like or love. (Other than LDR's where you've never met the person. I'm basing this on relationships where regular, in person contact has been the norm.)

Has anyone emailed or text messaged their feelings and had it reciprocated without a long period of time elapsing?

How many people have text/emailed their feelings and never heard from the person again?

Why did you choose to express yourself this way instead of face to face? And do you feel it was because you saw signs that your feelings weren't reciprocated?

Did the person ever contact you after a period of time, and did things work out for you?
