I'm in the process of divesting everything, so I can buy a tiny house out in the sticks.

I can tele commute from there. (at least until the work goes to India)

My income will be much less than in the city, but I'll only be heating and cooling a tiny house. No commute costs.

The one and only bedroom sleeps two and takes up the entire loft space. That gives you a size idea, The entire house has a loft the size of a bedroom.

It has a toilet, shower and kitchen. Wood stove.

I have the land already, zoning and building codes aren't a problem here.

Have not decided on paying them $$$ to hook me up to electrical grid.

With wood heat, and propane refridge, Solar and a back-up generator may do well.

So ladies, would you rule out, not care, be attracted to, a person who lives in such a place?

"out in the sticks" =

I take it you don't care for the sticks?

People can sometimes build them in town - so to speak-, but usually not as an official residence. Most cities have minimum square footage rules.

They can be built as "sheds" in the yard of a "real" house.

Maybe a relative home owner would let you build one. Or Someone would rent you a patch in their backyard.

I considered buying a full size house to rent out, while I lived at the far end of the 12 acre property, in my little house.

Some small RV's seem big because we think of them as huge automobiles.

But take the same size RV and dress it as a house, then it's considered a very small house.

I probably won't be having a house warming party---no room!

Well I imagine if you look long and hard, you may find some hewer-of-wood, hauler-of-water type gal whose dream life consists of living in a kitchen in the sticks. She might not have all her own teeth but hey, that'll make bj's less dangerous :p

Gross.

I was thinking less of a wife and more of dates. As a cottage or cabin to visit it would appeal to some, right?

Living in small quaters isn't for most, and those quaters would sure get small if two people LIVED there.

i am claustrophobic, so no, i could not deal with that place.

however, that doesn't mean i wouldn't be attracted to you or that we couldn't hang out at my place.

my question is, if you can buy a house and rent it out....why wouldn't you just live there?

***as a side funny....at first i thought you meant if the homeowner himself was small...

I can't stop laughing! I thought I was the only dummy who thought that! And I was thinking "what does being small have to do with being a homeowner?" Duh!

Anyway, I'd date a small homeowner as long as the home was the only thing he owned that was small!;)

See, I thought that women generally don`t like anything related to a man small. Small house, wallet and .....well, you know:laugh:

How are you going to meet girls to date living in the sticks? You might want to think about that before you totally divest.

I wouldn't care how small your house was when we met - but if there were any hope for a relationship - you would have to consider upgrading before sharing.

Also are you sure you wouldn't go nutz both living and working in that size environment?

well thank you, coco. you make me feel like the funniest person on earth sometimes. and since i'm probably not, it's nice to pretend.

as for the small house again, i would think it was a neat thing to have that you don't see everyday, to be able to say "i have a really tiny house, wanna see it?" but i would have to know you lived in a normal house as well, i think. or, as i said, hang out at my place.

They all have to go down to the lake to get water at some point  Or maybe one will come by asking to borrow his chainsaw!

In 10 years when your 12 acre lot is worth a million or more an acre you'll look like a genius.

AHHHH how true! I picked up 14 acres and plopped a lil house on it.....

located in the sticks but on an interstate and state highway. Can you say

"Commercial property" boys and girls. You can always create a larger home but you cannot create more land...... hell plop 2 of these lil houses out there to start with and rent one out....use your extra cash to buy more land.

This lil endeavor I took out in the sticks will be giving me about a $40,000 profit in just three years. SWEET ...... so hell yes I would date a person that had a small home but lots of potential as a land owner!

Large houses cost more to heat and cool. Not to mention insurance and taxes.

Also chores are easier in a small house. Sweep it in couple of minutes, vac just as fast. Less time and effort on house cleaning adds up to more leisure time.

Less money spent on heat/cooling adds up to less hours working for utility bills. More leisure time.

Actually I've found that living and working at the same place (any size) has it set of challenges. Need to be a self starter. I expect to be working much less hours than I do now.

On most days I'll be getting out and getting ahead on my firewood chores. This involves chopping, and hiking to gather lighter loads. This I consider exercise and fun.

A short hike to a stream to fish. Fun and free food. I'm not a hunter, and thats too bad, lots of big critters around.

I think a weekly ride (maybe 2 if I'm bored) to buy supplies and bar hop is in order. If I ended up dating again, then going to the movies etc is on the menu.

Yes, I hope the novel "doll house" concept would excite women's curiosity.

Plus with it's small size, It's very affordable to use top quality materials and details. A neat looking little place.

The idea of a small house is to be less wasteful. 2 houses would be contrary to the idea.

It may be that I'll need to leave out the fact that this is my full time home, until/if things get serious.

I like dating and I'm OK not dating, I take it as it comes.

I may wrong on this, but I think most deserving women would draw the line at peeing in a chemical toilet.

I'd rather think it depends on her personal preferences. Some don't mind adventures, hiking, camping, fresh air, and some like the city. And I don't think her preferences in regard to such things will tell you if she's a classy lady or not.
