buzzie2 Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 There's a guy in my Toastmasters Club that acts really strange around me. Well if I go up to him and be friendly, he won't look me in the eye and acts like he doesnt like me. Also, when I try to give him eye contact during the meeting or smile at him he'll look away. Okay from what it sounds like so far he can't stand me right? Well actually I think he DOES like me because there are times that I've got him looking at me when he thought I wasnt looking and he was staring at me. And when this happens he'll quickly look away. Also when I've gone up to the front to make speeches he looks like he is really listening to me. When I talk to other people in the club he listens and smiles. I think that he's just shy and doesnt want me to know that he's attracted to me. He has a stuttering problem, and joined Toastmasters to help him. I think that is so sweet! He is really nice and gets along with everyone. How can I get him to be more friendly with me?
Devildog Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Well, if he is in fact just shy, which is possible, you are going to have to make a move of some sort. You can either come out and ask him out, or you can be a bit more subtle about it. Is there some way you can ask for his assistance outside of the group but still related to the group? Perhaps ask him to help you research a speech, or maybe ask if he would mind allowing you to practice your speeches on him? If he is willing to do something like that, then you can start getting into more obvious flirting when you are away from others.
