ashleyp Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 ...and i'm an irish girl. i was brought up very traditionally and simply, and learning to adapt to the latino lifestyle was a very hard task for me to complete. i did it eventually, and we ended up breaking up....now i met a boy of my own kind. he's lucky he came along when he did, because i was about to go lesbian...hehe....anyway. i met a beautiful irish boy, and i feel like i made the latino lifestyle a part of me. i am constantly doing things that i dont' know i'm doing...things that seem weird to my new beau....things like cooking him dinner...getting him water when i go to the kitchen....he is very taken aback from all of this. i'm wondering if this "motherly" way that i had to adapt for myself if weirding him out. i think it may make me seem overbearing or selfconcious.....i don't know what to do!!! please help!!!
SuperMonk Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Chill ashley. We dudes give A+ to girls that actually have women skills like cooking and fetching us drinks when we come in. Nowadays women are ugh too feministized that have zero manners and offer nothing to their king when they come into the house. He's taken aback by this cause girls he's been with probably just shove him aside on the couch and let him fend for himself like an equal. Men don't want to be equal, real women understand this. They allow a man to be better than them, more powerful, the king. I know when I'm treated like a king, I treat my girl like a queen, but if she treats me like an equal or tells me what to do, I feel empty not like a man. And if anyone wants to make fun of what I just said, or that it sounds silly. All I have to say for you is that there's no reason to have relationships if it's just "equality"
Gold Pile Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Spanish culture, the guys are macho, and the women feminine
NYCmitch25 Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Irish women like yourself are beautiful and I'm sure you are a real keeper! Don't fret girl, he's probably pleasantly surprised? Right? The only thing I wonder is why you say "Latino" lifestyle is this way? I guess some of Latin America is still very traditional esp. where catholic faith is very strong. I guess it’s old world thinking kind of like in Salsa dancing where the man *always* shows dominance and takes the lead. Thats not really the montra of "Latinos" though. I guess if I were you I woouldn't mention that it'sprevious bf's that has caused you do this because it will burn the image you with other men everytime you do it so I would just make it known that you are somewhat traditional where you like doors held open for you, dinner paid for, and you like to show you care by bringing him a drink. If you are controlling, selfconcious, overbearing it will come out anyway...
