johnnysparks Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Okay, this is a bit ahead of time but I really want to get a special someone a truly great gift for christmas, we've been going out for a short time now but there is a definite chemistry between her and I. Now, I'm thinking somewhat innocent jewelry but don't want to send off any signs of moving too quickly so my thoughts are that a nice ring is way out of the question, so there are many other types of items I could go for, but she really doesn't wear earrings. Any thoughts, suggestions for a crazed hopeless romantic? lol
slubberdegullion Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Jewelery is dangerous. Last time I bought jewelery for milady we split. Time before that too. <---- slow learner Get her something that you'll both enjoy. Crotchless panties. Push-up bra. Golf clubs, perhaps. A toaster. Maybe a new frying pan. (j/k) OK, seriously... You can buy her an acre of the moon. Yes, really. link;Chocolate is always good, or so I'm told;Take her shopping at her favourite store. Most women will appreciate the effort, because they know that going shopping is right up there on things to do for guys like getting a root canal;A weekend away, perhaps; The Body Shop has lots of bubbly & soapy stuff, as well as massage oils;A professional portrait - NOT the WalMart kind, but a true professional one - of the both of you, or maybe one of those glamour portraits for her;One of those crystal jewelry boxes that plays Somewhere My Love when you open the lid. (I got this for one of my exes and it was a big hit);If she's into porcelain dolls, like figurines, Royal Worcester (pronounced "Wooster") makes good quality china, each with it's own name. Something like this. Find the one with your lady's name. That's all I can come up with right away, but hopefully this may help.
jayteresa Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 A thought on slubbers reply on a piece of the moon, you can buy a star for people which I think is v cool, my ex bought one for me and I thought it was a great idea! or maybe a cute bracelet or necklace for her to wear over the Christmas period!
933KJL Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 The biggest hit I eve scored was a piece of art from an artist that has become a favorite of mine. Brian Andreas http://www.storypeople.com you can order the sculptures ($150 and up I think) or just get a print and have it framed--thats what I did with a litle handwritten note from me on the matte.
Author johnnysparks Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 Get her something that you'll both enjoy. Crotchless panties. That was already considered from both of us to be a gift for more private circumstances, I'm looking more family friendly here, lol I say jewelry as a first choice because this usually can be done while remaining laid back and unassumed, however earrings would be that perfect call and she really doesn't wear any so that's out, maybe I should just gauge the mood closer to the occasion.
oh_what_am_I_doing Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 My favorite kind of gift and the kind I recommend you give her is one that shows the guy knows her personality. Last year, my ex gave me a little plastic sign that says "Beware of attack rabbit" that he got on ebay. He knew I'd hang it on the gate which keeps my bun-bun in the kitchen. It was one my favorite gifts ever, and it was so simple and cheap. Of course, we'd been dating for 3 1/2 years and he gave me other things he knew I wanted or would like, such as a cast iron dutch oven, X-files t-shirt, and Warren Kimble Americana cutting board. Not a huge romantic guy, but great gifts none-the-less. I wouldn't go the bath products route. Although they smell great, I personally think bath and body stuff says, "I have no idea what to get you, so here, have some shower gel. Everybody's gotta shower..." Same thing goes for food stuff like chocolate or coffee or nuts (it seems like you didn't know what else to get) ... well that is unless you find some special food items like I bought my dad "Barrister Blend" coffee because he's in law school, and I found some cute rabbit pasta for my mom (yes my family has a thing for bunnies ), and I've found musical chocolates for friends who are musicians. But a box of typical chocolates aren't too interesting. Having said all that, most girls will be thrilled with whatever you get them!
