It's very alarming and it's so annoying when members post as two different people trying to manipulate and trick others into feeling sorry for them. How do we know when threads are legitimate and not emotionally extortionate?

Unfortunately, there's no foolproof method of differentiating a real story from a fake one. If you do think that a story is hard to believe or you think it's emotional extortion, feel free to flag it so that we can put it on watch. Likewise, if you see spot banned members who've returned, let us know about that too.
