Actually OUTCAST....the paradox is that people who have little money are much more obsessed with it than people who are rich. :)

Well *beep*... Alpha finally said something with which I agree. :p

It all goes back to being obsessed over things that you don't have AND want.

I have a lot of Payless shoes

I rest my case. Add them all up and you'll find you've spent as much as you would have on a couple good pairs.

You forget one very impt point OUTCAST. WOmens shoes go in and out of style very quickly (as in yearly) whereas mens shoes pretty much stay the same or change styles every 3 or 4 yrs. For a woman to keep her tootsies fashionable she needs to keep buying new pairs constantly and if you're buying $150 shoes this can get expensive. Payless allows women with less means to still stay fashionalbe even though their shoes will only last 6 months and are not as comfortable.

Gosh, Alpha, you DO know women.

I actually will buy some Payless shoes for sandals or fun shoes. The shoes I'm going to wear alot though- like black flat dress shoes or black heels I have to pay more for because they have to be more comfortable.

I wouldn't want a Gucci purse myself but hey, whatever floats someone's boat.

How do you know how comfy they are?

What, you wear Payless women's shoes, Alpha?

You ppl are too funny.

You all have me pegged wrong..

i don't own many pairs of shoes and none of them are current fashions.

The last 3 bfs (not counting Mr. L) have tried to get me to up my fashion sense and style.

I still have clothes and acessories from High School (1986-1987)..

I am not your typical woman....

If I had access to more money I probably would buy better quality and not everything from thrift stores and sales racks but I still wouldn't be a big spender..

My Catholic upbringing taught me to live humbly.. I fear greed.. I have enough shyt in my life to make amends for when I meet my creator I don't want to expand my sins in other areas as well.

It's a mistake to set life up as a dichotomy between abject poverty and greed. It's possible to spend a reasonable amount of money on reasonable things without being greedy.

As for wearing stuff from high school and 1987, you might want to try to update. If you want to get jobs, you need to spend at least a little time and effort on your look. That 'I'm just a simple country gal' doesn't cut it. There are plenty of ways to look nice and update your look without breaking the bank. Consignment and sample stores are just one example.

Well my my, that sounds a bit holier than thouish, does it not?

Hey Alpha... it's almost time. I'm gonna go spank the monkey, okay? I'm gonna see if I can hit the stall door this time... I'll let you know how it turns out, all right?

I'll be back in about ten minutes. Don't go away! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Nope. I've been without funds and still manage to look professional for work. It can be a copout to say 'I'm just poor and helpless' and use it as an excuse to not pay attention to grooming. The money spent on several drinks at a nightclub is roughly the price of a new blouse. So someone so poor can choose to not swack back quite as much booze and keep some cash aside for the wardrobe budget.

I'd rather have the drinks

I'm back. Not as good as usual but oh well... life goes on. :p

I need a drink right about now. :p

Outcast, we get your point but you don't have to be preachy about it. Perhaps Pada doesn't live in the big city where all those Park Avenue fashions are in such high demand. Perhaps she is more comfortable wearing comfortable clothes. Your post just sounded like a bofetada to those who live in the country.

*Beep*, I don't like wearing suits and ties. I'm more of a jeans and shirt type guy... and those neckties sorta cut off the oxygen flow to my brain which can really be dangerous to my health ESPECIALLY while I'm spanking that monkey! :lmao:

you dont' wear the tie around the base of your c*ck SMOOCHIE....that is why your brain is losing oxygen. Next time wear your tie around your neck, man....

jeez! :p

I understand but the tie isn't long enough to wrap around the base. What shall I do? Should I get two ties and tie them together and then try and wrap them around the base? :p

I don't dress out of taste. I am just more casual in my appearance. I have two "Power" suits in my closet that weren't cheap. I was funded through an agency for college and they purchased them for me. I may have stuff from high school but who said it was distastful and out of date. Some things never seem to go out of acceptance..

I am from the country and I tend to be more simplistic then your average woman. I live in the suburbs of Minneapolis, MN in one of the more upper level suburbs. I do pick up clothes that are tasteful here and there that are in style.

I don't like a lot of the FADS that are out today. I think they are ugly and make women look too masculine.. I maybe a tomboy but I am still a woman.

When seeking different employment its not my interview skills or my appearance. Its my lack of experience and shytie education that is holding me back. I've been told several times I am a good interviewer and fun to interview but my lack of experience and education is what holds me back.

I can't afford to go back to college.. I have to support my son and I'm already $22,000 in the hole in student loans..

I just pray that when the right one comes along I will have it, in the mean time I work FT, support my house on my own, budget, make due with what I have and enjoy life..

I am a survivor of life and its hard hits.. The few experiences I have not had in my life are personal drug use, physical beatings, or any kind of homosexual activity. I think I have pretty much been through everything else..

Most men have been afraid of a strong woman/weak woman. I am a combo of both in extremes.. I have had faith that the right man will come along and he will accept me for ME..

I am "Just Me".

Money maybe nice but I am content being able to just pay my bills, have a place to live, have a running car, and the love of family and friends...

Wrongo. All I'm saying is if the girl wants to get a job in an office, she needs to look the part. You don't have to be Park Avenue to dress smartly. Nor do you have to spend a ton of money. It just takes a little more effort to find good stuff at lower prices. If she's got guys (notorious for not noticing what women wear) trying to update her look, it's got to be pretty obviously outdated.

if she's wearing a tight sweater, short mini-skirt and 4" heels, trust me OUTCAST, I will notice it...

Nope, I have some traits developed that are kind of Alpha Female because I had to learn to be strong in order to survive. (broken home-raised by mom without help), I have learned to be hardheaded as to not be taken advantage of and used as a doormat.

*+*+*+*+

As for dress attire where I work; we are business casual. I don't need to wear suits and such. I have a few and wear them on occasion and everyone asks me why I'm dressed up. No jeans except Fridays.

I am visual in this office since I am at the front entrance greeting clients. So my attire HAS to be appropriete, my voice HAS to be pleasent, my appearance HAS to be friendly and inviting..

If I was trashy, dirty, dressed out of whack and unprofessional do you think a Marketing Management Company would have a person of low appearance greeting their clients? NO...

I just don't spend ooogles of money on material stuff. I don't have the excess money to buy it so I get things here and there as I can afford it and find. It helps that I purchase where I can mix and match and blend most everything I own. It's called being resourceful..
