My cousin came to me with this question about her and her work colleague-friend. Her job at work is to help him with various projects and they’ve established a personal friendship. There is nothing untoward in this friendship; it is purely platonic and she holds him in high esteem. However, she is concerned about his wellbeing if he doesn’t turn into work because he has some personal problems she’s been supporting him with. She then told me about this conversation…

Last week, they were talking. He said to her that he wondered if she was in work today because he hadn’t seen her all the previous day and asked if she was in work then. She said she was then asked, “Aw, did you miss me?” He smiled but didn’t really answer the question.

A bit later, he said again that he didn’t see her in work yesterday and that it’s not often a day would go by where he didn’t see her at all in work (not necessarily to speak with because that doesn’t happen every day but at least passing his office or seeing him in the staffroom). She asked, “Is not seeing me a good thing or a bad thing?” He said, “It’s a bad thing.”

My cousin said she accepts that friends can miss each other without any connotation and she is currently taking this conversation as a compliment. I am of the same opinion.

However, at the back of her mind, she is curious about his level of concern about her ‘absence’ in his work day.

What do you all think?

time will tell :p. i would think that he has a thing for her but.... only cuz hes a guy and shes a girl... guys are usually a little more straight forward about their real emotions than girls are... at least in my generalization haha.... if it was me that said it... it would probably mean that im interested. if a girl said it to me.. i would probably not think anything of it... mmm then again i guess u can chalk it up to my low self esteem...
