Gold Pile Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Producers from a network news show have asked me to sit for an interview. They've been working on a story about nuns and priests leaving the church. It's about their transitions to a "normal" life. I'd just be a small part of the story, but I have to admit a story without GP is hardly worth watching. The nun I'm close too has declined to be interviewed, the story will feature several other current and past nuns/priests. They want to know how and why I'm offering to help. And if I had any input in her deciding to leave. I can remain nameless. I'm mostly up for this thing (a chance to mingle with female reporters:love: ) I do have reservations. Reporters often slant stories. You just never know what the media will do. The story is not about my GP game, but LS readers will certainly know it's me on the tube. (I'll be the wealthy looking guy:cool: ). I'm trying to be nice, I hope the network won't get hate mail from outcast about me. I'd ask you all to treat this program as separate from the GP game plans of the past. The issue is about a guy helping someone who is leaving the church...no more than that please.
whichwayisup Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 When will it air and what will your name be. Tell us something so we know it's YOU. Like, what colour shirt you'll be wearing! You and the NUN situation, it just keeps going and has a life of it's own. I'm in Canada so hopefully I'll still be able to see it.
lindya Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Reporters often slant stories. You just never know what the media will do. Although I'm not really in PR, I did once read an article about how PR agents do "horse-trading deals" with press reporters. Using the knowledge I gained from that article and combining it with my negotiating skills, I'm sure I could guarantee that the Gold Pile rep remains in mint condition. It'll cost you, though.
slubberdegullion Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 When do you expect this to be on? What network?
quankanne Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005  not sure why you agreed to sit for the interview if: 1. your nun friend refused to do it 2. you believe the press is capable of twisting an interview to suit its purposes does she know you've agreed to go on camera for this interview? How do you justify doing this type of interview when you really can't be considered a long-term or close-knit friend, given that you've only met her relatively recently? something doesn't smell right with this story ...
Outcast Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 It would be slimy of you to participate if your nun pal has refused to do so. Of course, it would serve to show her that you're not really her friend so it might do some good in that regard.

Will it cost me more than a trip to Palm Springs? I hope the interview is with a female...I can turn on the GP charm enough to create a good impression.
Craig Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Hey, this could be the start of a new TV series! "The Nun and Mr. Pile" the ongoing saga of a Nun struggling with her doubts while her and her new friend GP get caught up in adventure after adventure in their quest to save the world from itself.

The press is capable of telling the truth or twisting it. I hope I'm not doing anything controversial enough to merit twisting, but I'm concerned. Justification was not my call, they asked me. The story is not about one nun.

The story is not about just her, its about Nuns/Priests leaving the church. Somewhere in the interview I will mention "out-house" this will be our private joke cause I'll be thinking "out-cast". Not gonna be easy, how am I gonna slip outhouse in there?
933KJL Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 You could talk about the crack house you visited and say "Well, let me tell you this was no love shack until I met my former co-worker"

If nothing else, GP is modest....I'm not star material. Brad Pitt or Robert DiNero could play my part. They could trick out my BMW with rockets and machine guns etc. "I'm Batman" replaced by "I'm Gold Pile" I like it craig!!!!!!! Name change... "Gold Pile and the nun"

Basic Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 The issue may not be about your Gold Pile wealthy scam, but it will be the subject after we see you on TV. I include myself in the majority (IMHO)that would tune in to see who the heck you are!, but not care about much else. But there has to be many here (IMHO) that have been offended by you, and they will call, write, and smoke signal the network will stories of what an a**h*** that GP guy is. You strike as the type who might enjoy press about himself (?), but just know what you're getting into, You'll be "outed" to the world.
quankanne Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I don't know, GP, something about this whole nun thing doesn't ring true. Like the fact that she'd spend hours on the phone with you to discuss things (whether or not she's thinking of leaving the vocation, a "real" nun or sister doesn't have that kind of leisure time to spend considering their lifestyle) … that she's relying on outside help to quit the convent (congregations have dealt with this situation for centuries and have protocol in place, and she would know this) … that you'd be called upon to do an interview on a subject to which you are relatively new about someone you've known for a short time … something's rotten in denmark
d'Arthez Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 something's rotten in denmark And it ain't a corpse. Newsflash: The once highly thought of GP was arrested after investigations showed that the whole interview for network television was a scheme to distract people. This would allow friends of Mr. Pile to try to steal an old relic from the Church. Luckily for all believers, the theft has been prevented, although one mystery remains. How Ms. Nun acquired the clothing, which is part of the Order, she claimed to be a member of. Mr. Pile seemed to be completely shocked, and shrunk into a highly neurotic man, desperately demanding and appealing for some cigarettes to smoke. Ms. Nun, who was also part of the group of conspirers, and several others were arrested. If there remains any doubt, about the identity of Ms. Nun, a recorded 32 minutes and 19 seconds of cursing, obscenities and profanities soon dispelled that myth - and about half the time she was in public. Now, let us go to one of the surprised witnesses ...
Outcast Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 "During the interview, Mr. Pile's real name was revealed as Mr. Manure Pile"
933KJL Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Please review my previous posts in this thread and the other nunsense threads.... Screaming loud and clear....BS..... I miss my Lilly
quankanne Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 am I a nun? "No, but I play one on TV ..." :p (couldn't resist) no, I'm just a reporter who works for the Catholic Church, so I've gotten to know a lot of the religious (nuns and sisters) and clergy (priests and deacons). And the women religious I've met adhere to a pretty strict schedule, there's no time for hours-long conversation ... with ANYONE. Much less to spend hours on the phone with a lay person, going over a game plan to leave her congregation/order. Which leads me to think someone's attempting to pull our leg here. "During the interview, Mr. Pile's real name was revealed as Mr. Manure Pile" ... outie, you're terrible. On the money, but terrible! :p

Just remember the BLUES BROTHERS...You have seen that movie, right?
Author Gold Pile Posted November 8, 2005 Author Posted November 8, 2005 (congregations have dealt with this situation for centuries and have protocol in place, and she would know this) I pointed out that (to my suprise) I found out they do have an internal "program" for dealing with this. She is going that route, we still talk about lots of things and about her getting resettled in her new life. a "real" nun or sister doesn't have that kind of leisure time to spend You know more about the internal workings, all I know is we talk alot. you'd be called upon to do an interview on a subject to which you are relatively new about someone you've known for a short tim I expect I'm one of many, many people being interviewed about a broad subject. They indicate an interest in my motivation to help and weather or not I encouraged her to leave. I expect they'll interview people with different motives than my own. I expect my contribution will be minor. Why me? Not sure. Maybe someone in the church or the one of the do gooders I joined in an inner city outreach project mentioned my name. The nun I know well, did not mention my name to the network, but she has mentioned me to others.
