I have been going out with my girlfriend for roughly 2 years now. She just resently went away to college and I am still in highschool. Our relationship has been in a downward spiral for probably 6 months. She is extremely attached, insecure and very in love. For me on the other hand, the fire has gone out and I think it is time for us to part ways. I want to break up, but I really don't want to hurt her feelings and make it hard for her while in college. I can't just come out and say that I want to break up with her, I just can't hurt her feelings like that. Please, can anyone help me to break up with her in the nicest way possible?

A break up is hard no matter what.

Your best bet is to be honest.

And firm.

I 2nd westernxer.

"I'm gonna punch you in the face, how would you like me to do it?" There's no easy way. It's gonna sting no matter how you do it so, your best bet is to be upfront and honest.

Thanks for your help. your right, it would be best to be straight with her. I just wish i didn't have to hear her cry, I really burns me. Thanks for your help, other suggestions are still welcome

I think you're just beating her to the punch. She might want to be with you right now but that will change once she settles in. She'll meet a ton of new people, start partying all the time, and before you know it, she'll need "space".

Be cordial and honest. She'll get over it quickly.

I was dating my boyfriend for over 5 years. We just broke up 3 weeks ago because he "fell" out of love with me. I saw it coming for a while. Pretty much, your best bet is to break it off instead of stringing her along. It is not fair to her or you. And yes, most likely she will be hurt, and in return as long as you are "normal" it is going to hurt you some too. Good luck, and do not push it off. And make sure you know what you are doing before you do because in many cases there will be no second chance.
