A guy texted me recently and said he knew me from years ago but was afraid to come to me so he searched for my insta years later and found it and texted me and said that he wants to date me. My question is why he only started searching for me years later when he liked me 4 years ago and was afraid to make the first move why now? Why not before why so late

Do you know him or remember him?  It sounds like a scammer or creepy at best. Delete and block him.

How old are you, OP? And how did you both meet 4 years ago? Have you met him before?

It would be a good idea to verify that this guy is who he says he is and talk to mutual acquaintances about him before meeting him - or better yet, maybe, just tell him you're not interested and block him.  It sounds quite scammy to me.

I'm not sure why you would think we would know.  If you are interested in him and willing to talk to him further maybe you an ask him this.
