I have been seeing a man for 2 months and it is going really well. He said to me yesterday now we are 'going steady'. I know it sounds naive and I am not American and know 'going steady' is an American term. What does 'going steady' mean?

Means the glue is sticking. You 2 are 'a thing'.

My definition probably doesn't help lol

I should let English natives answer 😉

It’s an old timey or oldschool way of saying you’re a couple. If you have questions about anything ask him. I’m assuming you’re both single and available to date (not in other relationships or married).

Being exclusive. Dating only each other and dating regularly.

@Angel29it means exclusively dating..

Referencing your previous thread, has he taken you out on a proper date yet?

Jmo but the guy sounds like he talks a good game with very little to no action.

I hope I'm wrong about him, good luck.

"Going steady" is an old fashioned American term that people used to use in the 1960's, it's not used anymore.  My mom's generation used it.  But it means exclusively dating.

Be sure to let his actions, not his words, be the basis for how you feel about him.

Without being rude, why didn't you just ask him?

If you are at the point of him saying you're "going steady" I would think you would feel comfortable enough asking what he means by that.

Is there a language barrier? Is this a college romance where you are from different countries/cultures?

Take your time and pace yourself. Only do what you are comfortable with. When in doubt, ask trusted friends and family.
