NightsEcho Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Hey all, I have posted here for quite a few months....much less frequentley lately...and seeing as how right now I don't have very much time (at school) i thought I should ask a quick question. Background -Serious relationship 3 1/2 years, ended 7 months ago. -Contact dwindeled...no phone contact in 3 months....no e-mail contact in 1 month -She cheated on me (not sure at what level) and had another guy lined up -Still have feelings for her...but very upset and hurt -Been dating and having a great time lately Now my question is... We haven't been talking, and lately not been thinking of her at all. The last 4 nights in a row I have dreamed about her...either us fighting, or getting back together. The last 4 nights!!! I have never dreamed about anything four nights in a row...even wehen we broke up. Now nearly 8 months later...and after lots of NC these dreams all of a sudden? Anybody else go through something like this? NE
slubberdegullion Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 REM sleep dreams are just your brain firing random neurons and the occasional chemical eruption. Someone on this board (don't remember who) called it, "your brain taking a dump." They're harmless, meaningless and without reason.
jc Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 yes, I know exactly what you mean. I'll go for a few weeks with no dreams of my ex, then I'll dream about him for a few days straight. Very intense dreams too. I think that it is my brain's way of dealing with the breakup. Any unresolved feelings or issues that I don't acknowledge during the day are relived during my dreams. This is just a theory however... The hardest part is waking up from a dream about your ex. I don't know about you, but I'm trying hard NOT to think about him and waking up with him already in my head is like waking up on the "wrong side of the bed".
