People posting as two different people/aliases

I've noticed that this has happened a few times in the forum.

Members will create new aliases under two separate accounts and pretend they are a different person.

I'm not sure what the reason is for it but is there a way to prevent this from happening in the future?

Google "sock puppets". It's a type of trolling. If a post seems weird, just report it . They can look into it.

Yes, Alpacalia, it is annoying and a waste of time for all of us.   It's been happening for as long as social media has been around, but posters here are becoming more aware because we've started giving explanations the reasons we close threads.   

There really is no way to prevent it because all social media platforms need to allow new members to join.   However, as @Wiseman2 says, existing members can help very much by reporting threads or posts which seem 'off'.
