Ok, that's sad. However once you part ways it's best to delete and block someone from all your social media and messaging apps.

For exactly this reason. Guilt tripping, begging etc.

Actually, "the girl of his dreams" is someone who is tolerant of his mess and odor.

You did the right thing cutting your losses early on when red flags and incompatibilities surfaced.

Oh yes, totally agree. Once my mind is made up it's final

I hope he has taken stock of what has happened and make changes. Maybe seeing his kids again will perk up his spirits.

He's messaged me since saying he is very upset he couldn't win me over as I was the girl of his dreams..

That's a rather odd response coming from a man who's just been dumped. 😳

I think posts have got mixed up here, he takes good care of his hair. He does shower everyday, but it's the state of his flat that's letting him down.

To be fair, it's you who has confused us.  You said:

But when he hugged me goodbye last weekend at his place he also smelt bad. Dirty and unwashed with an aftershave smell like it was used as a cover up.

Is it? In what way is it odd?

Oh sorry, yes I see. I was confused myself. Wasn't quite sure if it was his clothes, or him. Or what.

But thinking about it I think it's just the smell of the dirty flat, he does shower. But if his bed and sofa stinks, and like someone else said, maybe his clothes got left in the washing machine too long. All this builds up and it doesn't matter how much he showers. If his surroundings stink, he will too.

Anyhow, doesn't matter now. The issue has been sorted. I'm moving on
