Angel29 Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 One of my friends was thinking of setting me up with this guy. On two occasions he has made paedo ‘jokes’ about Rolf Harris and Jimmy Saville. I just find this topic quite disturbing. Why do people think this ‘humour’ is appropriate. In the past he has said that he finds abuse upsetting so why make a 'joke' or bring something up like this. I also cannot understand why my friend would try and set me up with him. This guy even said at the start of covid in the supermarket when there were shortages he took baby formula powder from a woman’s overflowing trolley. He told her you don’t need that as he claims she would sell it on eBay. This shows he must be quite controlling. Just can't believe people like this exist.

Have you actually met this guy in person before? How did you learn this stuff about him in the first place? Just say to your friend that you are not interested. You would be surprised at some guys my friends tried to set me up with. I am still scratching my head, years later, trying to understand why they think that I would be compatible with these guys (or they would be with me, lol). For example, one of these guys was a heavy drinker, who showed up completely wasted, and I don't drink any alcohol. Maybe that particular guy asked your friend to set the two of you up. Could be one explanation. Anyway, don't sweat it. Just say no. 1

That means that you already know that the two of you are incompatible. Just say that you don't think that you and that guy are a good match if your friend tries to set the two of you up.

Your instincts are right, Angel, this guy is not only controlling but has behavioural problems which will probably result in him ending up in prison. He is trying to push people's buttons, to be provocative. He probably gets more attention like that. Regardless, you need to avoid this guy like the plague. Your friend's judgement is off.
