electric_prune Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Hello! Sorry for any mistake (English is not my first language). I (22F) moved to a new country for a few months and signed up on a website for women to meet new people. My profile mentions "Looking for a relationship" only. A girl (19F) from a different city , one hour away , texted me. We engaged in long conversations , had a two hour phone call before I suggested to meet up IRL in her city. We spent more than seven hours together and it was pleasantly suprising how well we got along despite all the cultural differences we had. On the second date , she came to see me and it was also very fun to be with her. After she left , I texted her that I liked her and would like to see her again. She replied saying that she also had a lovely time and would like to see me again. I had to go back to my homecountry this month of August for my summer vacation and she suggested we meet when I would be back. Since I was free the last days before my flight , I suggested we meet before. We went cycling around a lake next to where she lives. Once again , we spent the whole time talking , laughing but also discussing serious things.. At some point , she mentioned that she kind of liked me but that's pretty much the only hint I've got so far. We also haven't broken the touch barrier (we hug each other goodbye in a friendly way). I suggested to meet when I will be back but I have some questions.. Should I ask her if she wants to move things forward between us? Or is it too early? It's worth noting that we have both never been in a relationship.

Don't make any grand plans before you go on vacation. Come back and spend more time with each other. Let it unfold naturally. I'm happy for you. 2

It's going very well. Relax. You have 'broken the touch barrier". Do not smother after just a couple of dates. Let things evolve more naturally. Stay in touch over your vacation, but do not try to build a relationship via ext. Try not to panic like this. 1
Miss Spider Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 (edited) I think you can ask her what she’s looking for.. why is this seriously such a scary topic for some people xD it doesn’t mean you wanna get married tomorrow Edited August 13, 2021 by Cookiesandough 1
FudgeSwirl Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Firstly your English is fantastic! Secondly I completely agree with @glows, @Wiseman2, and @Cookiesandough. Things seem to be going really well so far and her saying she likes you is proof of it as well as each time you see each other you both seem to have a wonderful time. It's okay to keep talking while you are away, but once you are back home let things happen naturally since you only started dating her. It's okay to ask her what she is looking for in a relationship and then take it from there slowly.
Author electric_prune Posted August 14, 2021 Author Posted August 14, 2021 Thanks everyone for the kind advice. It is quite a delicate situation for me as I don't want to be the one with high expectations but I also don't want to keep this neverending "going back and forth" to see each other with no purpose. 1
smackie9 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 hey if she is willing to come out and see you, and see you each time you request a meet up, then things are progressing. Why not have a more romantic date like have a picnic dinner on the beach and watch the sunset, sharing a blanket and if possible drinking a glass of wine. Hold hands like mentioned, and maybe let it lead to gentle kisses. 1
