Yes, I have heard over and over that because she is not working but drawing about $50K USD, per annum, that I should be helping her more. .... Who have you heard this from? Her? The average annual income in the US is ~$31K USD. She is making a good amount more than most, and clearly has enough to buy rental property. She doesn't need help and if she is getting this $50K without having to work she should be helping you with all of her free time she doesn't need to spend going to a job. If she saying these things to you she has a real entitlement problem. 2

The national median family income for the United States for FY 2021 is $79,900, an increase over the national median family income in FY 2020 of $78,500. When twice the change in national median incomes is greater than five percent, this higher value is used as the cap on increases in the calculation of income limits. Apr 1, 2021 Not saying it's incorrect, just wondering where you found it. I don't trust much of what I read on the internet anymore. In any event, this situation sounds utterly toxic, to quote @salparadise, absurd! Edited August 3, 2021 by poppyfields
norealusername Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 You might be better off dumping her and using an escort or hooker.

Who exactly are you hearing this from, OP? Has her family said this directly to you, or is she just telling you that they say these things? If it's the latter, I would not assume it's necessarily the truth. She could well be making that up in an effort to guilt and shame you into giving her more money. 2

An in depth google search of "average us income" and the first hit from https://datacommons.org/ and this was a statistic for individual income, now since many households more than one person works...who knows. I'd really be more interested in the distribution which is decidedly not normal (bell shaped) more bi-modal...and the gap grows between the haves and have nots. The most telling thing for me is people who are struggling financially are not buying rental real estate. Edited August 4, 2021 by SumGuy
