It's not that. 4 months of being exclusive boyfriend girlfriend and just end it like that?! Is that how it works nowadays.  No one talks to each other anymore.  Ghost..break up without explanation? It's not like I caught him cheating.  I'm assuming at this point. I need to hear him out as well and who knows maybe we will both agree this isn't going anywhere.

My ex dumped me by text without explanation despite being together for 7 years. To this day I never got the truth but I do know that I was dumped for a 3rd party. Even if it is the end for Britney and her bf, at least this way she can get some closure.

That's not how you end things, necessarily, because each situation is different. You don't need to ghost. Hearing him out makes sense to me. Just being open and out with it is the right step, because you're driving yourself crazy with wondering. 

IMO (this is JUST my opinion and experience), any time a person feels he or she needs to walk on eggshells this much, and/or has to ask dozens of opinions literally on just how to answer simple emails, especially with the degree of frustration shown on this thread, something's wrong. Nobody should EVER feel this outright paralyzed by a simple conversation with someone they've been seeing and sleeping with for four months.

That's just how I feel about it. I would go forward thinking, "if I'm frightened and tiptoeing, something. Is. NOT. Right."

I was once dumped by a letter (snail mail - in the 90s, LOL)...by someone I had been extremely serious with. It was just...boom. It's not working out. Gone.

My experience was, he had slept with someone else, and she was pregnant. He was too ashamed (I guess) to tell me that (and rightly so), so he just disappeared.

It's just my experience of seeing this happen to other people too - not necessarily the pregnancy, but being dumped after a long time in a very cold way - that something is often behind the scenes, something major. Cheating...or whatever.
