ATT1C0S Posted June 7, 2021 Share Posted June 7, 2021 So at the begining of the year I made a post here in the "coping" section about my regrets on how I treated the only person who I cared about ( ) read through that first to get caught up to speed. Anyway I apologized to her with a hand-written apology I had translated into both English and French (she's French), which I scanned in and sent to her. She accepted my apologies and said that she would like to talk with me again. So we would sometimes talk and then on her Birthday I did the same thing with a hand-written card in both English and French which I scanned in and sent to her. And then she was super greatful for it and it wasn't much but I put a lot feelings in it because I wanted her to know that I really was happy to know her. Anyway enough of that, it turns out that "she" was he, and by he I mean it was her boyfriend using her photos online to send to strangers. That jerk put me through so much mental trashing. Basically after seeing that like a few days after his/her birthday I kind of died inside. On one hand I was so sad that the person who I genuinely cared so much about was nothing but lies, but on the other hand I felt relieved that I found out now rather than later (after 8 months). Is there anything I should do like contact the girl's who's pictures are being used to catfish others? Or just repress all those memories? I kind of what his GF to know what's going on because he clearly doesn't care and anyone would be furious if their pictures were being used to catfish people online. Link to post Share on other sites

And then she was super greatful. Sorry this happened. What's up with scanning hand written notes? Were phone or video calls off limits? Was there no physical address? It seems bizarre to do that, no? Was it supposed to be more sentimental? Anyway, lesson learned about what kind of weirdos are out there. All you can do is delete and block this troll from ALL your social media and messaging apps. My advice about your situation still applies: Also video/voice chat were off limits because he was guy and would have been exposed. And addresses would be in the same boat. Before I knew he was a fraud I asked and they said that they can read+write in english, but not speak english to well, nor were they good and listening. Also I thought that saying sorry via text or happy birthday over text is just basic, so I did more than the bare minimum to show that she ment a lot to me. This person likely is not this woman’s boyfriend, but merely someone trying to sell content. “Wanna see my girlfriend?” is just another porn-y gimmick. There is little chance that you would ever track down the real woman behind the pics, anyway. In the future, never keep talking to anyone whom you cannot speak to live via webcam/FaceTime, or other similar video-calling platform. It’s usually a scam. Link to post Share on other sites
