I was chatting with a buddy of mine who said to me that if I want to attract men I need to do one thing that I almost never do : show more skin.  He said I need to wear a cute little top with my boobs pushed up to put them on display.  That can and will attract men to me.

Really?  I want to hear from others on this.

Yeah, I used to dress like that when I was in my 20's.  Then I grew up.  If I remember correctly, you are in your 40's?  Your friend gave you bad advice.  Dressing like this just reeks of desperation and will send a message alright, but is it the message you want to send?

It may... It may not... IMO, age, who you are trying to attract, skin condition/tone all can work for you or against you... Normally as we age the neck and upper chest area becomes more susceptible to blotches and wrinkles. Years of sun damage can cause this also. If this applies, this may not be appealing to some people. 

It's best to flaunt only the assets you are comfortable with. IE: Long legs look good in skinny jeans, you don't need to wear shorts if you have ugly knees. If you have a good upper body don't hide it with baggy sweater or coat. Sometimes a new hair style will show off your facial features to your advantage. Lighting/shadows can change how you look also.

The most important is only do what you are comfortable with... Tell him you are not running an Only Fans page....

A nice fitting sweater which accentuates your physique is much more appealing than some raunchy attire. In fact, I think a woman in jeans and a sweater is far more sexy than somebody letting their cleavage hang out.

Yep... dress your age !!!  I know a couple women who dress like they are 20, and it's a huge turn off.

Maybe it was his awkward way of telling you to dress feminine. The rule to not look trashy is simple, only showcase one asset at a time. If you show legs then don't show cleavage, if you show cleavage don't show legs. Dress classy sexy. It's summer, wear sexy summer dresses, maxi dresses.

Agreed. I usually wear sundresses that hit right above the knee. Some show a little cleavage, some don't, and I know they look nice because I get compliments from both sexes. If I do jeans, they're fitted. No mom jeans for me. Lol  Shoes can make or break your outfit too. Men love heels or dressy sandals and a nice pair of earrings or a bracelet can be a good conversation starter. Like @Gaeta said, classy sexy. That's how you attract a good quality man.

So his advice boils down to product placement?   You want to be a product go for it.  Horrible advice from this buddy.

 It's not about attracting attention, it's about attracting the person you want.  I'm a high libido man and I don't need to be shown cleavage or skin to have attraction, can well tell the contours of her body.  Men who need you to show skin to be attracted to you are not attracted to you, they are attracted only to your body, simple as that.

That is how my girlfriend got me...

She purchased this cute little blue bikini that high lighted her "assets".  She wanted to get noticed when she went to the pool and I noticed her. 

For the record, she was older than the OP when we met...

Best really to dress for the occasion.
Nothing more trashy than women turning up in cleavage, heels and paint when trainers, sweaters and jeans are more appropriate, 
At 40, I think exposing everyday cleavage is not a good idea. yes it may get you noticed but maybe not for the right reasons.

Using your shape to your advantage is fine.  You don't necessarily need a push up wonderbra but a style that accentuates your curves will attract men to you.  What's the saying:  Don't hide your light under a bushel.

By her own (later) admission, my girlfriend told me shopped specifically for a bikini to show off "the girls".

I imagine if she wasn't trying to attract a guy, I conservative one-piece would have fine just for swimming in the pool, but my girlfriend had another agenda.

Being that the OP has stated in other threads that she has a "masculine" look about her and a "dour" facial expression, showing a little cleavage wouldn't hurt if her goal is to get a little more male attention.

The girl I'm dating I first met while she was wearing a shirt with a little Micky Mouse logo and some flattering jeans. I thought it was cute and unique she was comfortable enough with herself to wear it and it was a great conversation starter. Plus her butt looked good in the jeans. 

Point being, be you, dress like you, and you will attract authenticity.

But what is she going to do with it when she gets it?
She is someone who shows little interest on dates and who has been described as rude on occasion.
If she is going to flaunt it, she needs to be ready with some witty banter and show some personality.

That's true. 

I have a big chest for my frame so men meet my chest before they meet me. I'm used to it, I know how to handle it. I've been dealing with this forever. I don't see Morten redirecting men's attention toward her face in a light funny way.

I really believe in being true to your style, though. If you are not a sundress type of chick don’t do a sundress because you won’t feel comfortable or you. I think it’s much more important that it is fitted properly and it flatters your individual body type.

If you have a slim waist, wear what accentuates it and if you’ve got a muffin top, avoid crop tops or too fitted up there. IDK your body type and IDK why, but I imagine you wear tshirt with jeans a lot. Try getting a more fitted tea and jeans. Be careful when shopping for jeans/pants . They can be very make or break. The right ones can lift your *** and tone your legs. Make sure that your accounting for your body type
