Ok, here’s a conversation starter. I have been amazed at some of the posts on LS that talk about married couples going one, two, three or more years without sex. I think one year would be my absolute outside limit.

So, barring illness, pregnancy, military service, incarceration, etc., what is the longest time period you’ve gone without sex from your partner while you still desired it?

It would probably be helpful if you said how long you’ve been with your partner and if you think appropriate, your age.

As for myself, it was about 6 or 7 months. That was 15 to 20 years ago and we’ve been married for 35 years now. I was experimenting to see how long it would take for her to make the first move on me. Since then I usually make the first move.

In my first marriage the longest was two weeks before I gave him some release. That was after the birth of both children. Up until that time, we had to have sex on a weekly basis or he would pout, act up, and generally make life miserable for me until I gave in. Before we separated we went four weeks without it but I don't count that because things were bad bad. Even though he still asked if we could have sex until the divorce was final. :lmao:

Now, it's around two weeks once. Work stresses etc. I can't imagine going a year or more unless there were other circumstances like illness, war, etc.

Wow, interesting you'd post something like this.

Cause:

It's been a couple months for me and Mrs. Moose. This is the longest we've not had sex in going on 18 years.

I'm the one usually making the first moves too. But that's not the cause this go around.

I've been a little stressed lately....just hired a new receptionist, building our final house, and on top of that, I'm building a new house for my Mom and Step-Dad too.

It's putting a little strain on my libido.....so much to worry about, but thank GOD I have Mrs. Moose for my wife. She knows what I'm going through and how to stay light on the pressure.......

Congratulations on your long-lasting marriage! :) My BF says "A good relationship is the one that withstands the test of time." I hope to reach that beauty in our relationship too.

So how does it feel to be married for so long? Have you been happy all these years? Have you had moments when you wanted to give up? Do you still have wonderful times together often? Do you love her more than anything? :)

Sorry, I can't answer your initial question as I've been married for only 3 years, but I agree that sex is a very important part of love and physical closeness.

Why, MzP, I do declare! You ARE a horny little vixen :o

(Sorry about that, MW has been watching a "Steel Magnolias" marathon on TNT all weekend and some of that stuff just seeps in like second hand smoke) :D

Moose, at least you know the cause and now that I got you thinking about it I've got the feeling it might not be much longer.

Producer, thanks. How it feels is like I've never known anything else. You obviously haven't stumbled across any of my other threads. Hasn't been all sunshine and lollipops. Far from it, pretty bad for awhile but things are looking up now.

It takes work. Our oldest daughter has been married for 12 years and from what I can tell had nothing but happiness. I wish you the same RP.

Oh gosh, MLC- you have no idea! I think sometimes I want sex more than he does! :D

Been married more than 10 years, less than 20. My husband and I joke that women are like sexual camels. They can store it up and last a while in the desert. Problem is, the longer it's been, the easier it is to go without. So we have to keep it going, at least once a week. The more you do it, the more you want to.....

That is so true...

you are right on with the camel anology about women...the complete opposite with men. Let the sitution go too long and a guy will die (figurativel) and go looking elsewhere... like it or not ladies keep the marathon going consistently (health aside) or its destine to implode.

Just my two cents

Lou
