Saturday I ended an 11 year affair with a married man for religious reasons.   He is my best and only friend.  I cannot be weak and see him.  My heart is in pieces on the floor.

Oof. 11 years.

Whatever your reasons for ending it, you've done the right thing.

I know it feels awful right now but it wasn't healthy.

Oof is right.

How is it that he is your only friend? I hope you have some family or someone who can offer you support.

Sorry sad tomato. I ended with someone I considered my closest friend. End of story: I need to do the work to make more friends.

So sorry, eventually it feels better.

Are you married as well? Whose religion?

Do you work together?  He's not your only friend.

I'm not married,  he's retired and older than me.  I'm Christian,  he is not.

I'm working to  make new friends, but I'm low on self confidence at the moment.  Thank you to all for your support.  I support you all as well.

So he ended it after 11 years due to his religion? I wonder what sort of a mental gymnastics he had going on for those 11 years to justify it then?
